There are too many colors due to jpg compression and it's pillowshaded (dark around the outline, gradually becoming lighter towards the middle of the shape). I suggest you get something that saves your pixel art as png or gif, at least a conversion program like Giffy to make a bmp into a gif.

fthmdg, we can't critisize a piece we cannot see properly. You'll have to rehost it or something, if you saved it as a png Photobucket shouldn't have changed it to a jpg, it only does that to bitmaps.

I think you should take a look at a few anatomy and shading tutorials.

I like the little monster he's cool you should give him some color. As for the little dude. The only thing that really bothers me is the arms. They kinda hang in front of him and it looks odd. Keep at it.

I really like how your infected site is coming along. All these images
of yours on their own seem simplistic and may not get the right c+c. I
highly reccomend that you give the context in which they will be used
to better understand them. I notice your items tend to hang in the
public que for a while. This may have something to do with that.
off-topic: Go fix your Joint room quickly. First impressions are hard to overcome. I see good potential in you. Take your time and don't attempt more than you can handle. |

Actually you used 6 colours. Black, grey, white, plus the 3 shades of teal. (sorry, wrote that before leel posted)
It seems to me that you're forcing yourself to use 3 shades of any one colour at a time. Why? Quite alot of the time you only need 2, perhaps even 1, and yet you force another in there. Remember, if a colour isn't needed, then it isn't needed. I think your monster (in fact, both pieces) are too small to be including black outlines. And your colours have incredibly high saturation, which makes them quite hard to look at and enjoy atall. I'd avoid using MSPaint default colours whenever you can. You can make a new colour very easily on paint, with much freedom, and to save it just place it near your image so you can pick it up later (seeing as the recent MSPaint won't allow saving palettes..) Hope that helps... Edited by Larwick - 19 August 2006 at 10:44am |
