I see no wrong with 'mixed media'  but there's no place for it here.

Not that it's a lesser art form or blah blah, but this is a place for pixels, and that is what we want to see.  If I wanted to see digital paintings, I'd go somewhere else. Simple as that, really. We're not prejudiced, we just come to pixeljoint for a reason.

Putting your weener in a pencil shapener could be considered abstract art with those fricken everything goes art folks.

... the thing about Ken's mockup is that the "mixed media" isn't really extreme, or all over the piece. You'll never have to deal with the sky or interact with it, which could open up more horrible non-pixel art things. The things that are important (character, enemies, platforms, etc) are pixel, and the non-pixeled nature isn't disruptive of the other, pure pixel parts. When the entire background is non-pixeled, like stupid MS6, THEN it's a problem.

I, frankly, wouldn't do the mixed-media thing, it projects a lazy attitude in my opinion, but this is just my two cents. I don't make any decisions. It could go down that people would use the excuse that Kenneth could do it, why not them? or most people wont even notice.

On topic? You mean making 24x24 tiles for some random person? D:
