You seem to have applied pillow shading to the hair and left the face with no shading. After you've decided on the form, think decisively about the lighting; where would the light be and thus where would the highlights/shadows be?
Also, at 100% zoom, one simply cannot distinguish the different colours so you'd be better off limiting your palette a bit. I won't comment on the anatomy since it's clear you're going for a cartoon style but I do recommend studying anatomy because it really is useful, even if you don't aim for realism. |

It looks a lot like you used the circle tool for the head. Is your head a circle? Nope, it's not. Even if you're doing cartoons and breaking the rules of anatomy, you still need to make human-like shapes.
I'd suggest looking at reference pics or... even looking in the mirror. Pixel by eye can be a good learning technique. It teaches you to pay attention to detail and constantly and actively think. |
