So one thing i have a pretty hard time with are trees. I'm working on making a tree and so far i am pretty happy with what i have. Is there anything you guys see that i could do better?

P.S: ignore the shadow and the green. i just did that to get a feel of how ell it blended with the ground.

The key to trees and all things organic in nature is to keep things random. Here the ridges are a tad too straight up and down. Curve them some. This can also be accomplished with random roots, knots and other woody things.

Maybe you can also make the tree natural by making the thee itself less straight up, but more grown to 1 side, more branches to 1 side than the other... looking at photos of trees might also help you getting the right idea about what a tree could look like in your pixel...

You might want to find references of the specific type of tree you're drawing, though; oaks have different trunk structure than pine trees, and there are many other species that have more subtle, though still important differences.

Oaks (the most common tree in the area where I live and thus the kind I'm most familiar with) are usually less widened towards the ground and more root growth is present underground. Their roots also combine better into a trunk which is mostly round. Roots do, however, pop back up aboveground sometimes, and you could show this to extend the tree's pesence and anchor it to the ground.

Your colors could use some more contrast (Less saturation too? Mess around with it and see what looks good.) and the grass needs texture (excuse my ignorance of your plea for ignorance :p). The grass also could use to be turned into dirt around the tree's trunk where shadow from the tree inhibits its' growth.

RPG is numberwang.
