Hi, I've been pixeling for a year now, I was reffered to here by a friend named Sterling who say's he's learned alot from here. I'm mainly looking forward to building fundamentals and learning more about shading & light sources. Which is what you can see I probably need most help on.
I also noticed alot of pro's dithering (mostly observed at pixelation site) so I wanted to try that out too.

A whale named Laboon from One Piece (Assigned by a programmer to make it in this certain position).

I'm not sure what the... point of this piece is? I duno. Your lines look choppy, the scratches look odd, an the eyes are mirrored.

"A whale named Laboon from One Piece (Assigned by a programmer to make it in this certain position)."

Things to fix:
1.lines are choppy

Do you mean they littleraly look odd? because they are on "laboon the whale"

What do you mean the eyes are mirrored? You want me to put them on his nose? o.O (Whales have eyes on their sides).

Any actual "tips", how's the shading?

It's a rather large piece, making it kind of difficult to shade IMO. To begin with, the shadows in the scars are all pointing straight down even though the light seems to come slightly from the right. You could also try to highlight the "walls" of the scars, meaning the blue flesh where it meets the scar on the opposing side of the light direction.

Also, you might want to give the skin of the whale some more variation, as a large piece easily becomes boring to watch with large solid portions of the same colors. Either that or you go for a clean stylized approach and keep the color fields separated without any dithering. Keep in mind to keep the feeling of the skin surface correct - you don't want a texture or dithering technique that suggests that the whale is, for example, dry or wrinkly.

Since it's a whale, I'm guessing it could be wet, and thus you could add some more highlights (not too many) to suggest wetness. I'm not used to working or giving tips on this kind of art, keep that in mind and see my tips as my personal suggestions...

There's plenty of tutorials on lighting, dithering and anti-aliasing, I suggest you check some out for general tips. Good luck!

you should definately add shading to the inside of the scratches, so that they are consistant with the rest of the skin. That would also give the whale more depth on a whole.
I also agree with df0 in regards to the surface texture, it's too flat and plain,i'd imagine whales to have lumpy skin.

I know what it is, I said I don't know what the point OF it is. Why are you only showing some of him? is there going to be a scene.. what's the point? Did you programmer only want to have this much of him showing?

Do you mean they littleraly look odd? because they are on "laboon the whale"

No, I mean they look unreal and random.

What do you mean the eyes are mirrored? You want me to put them on his nose? o.O (Whales have eyes on their sides).

The eyes look identical. It looks like you made an eye, copied it, pasted it, and mirrored it. Maybe I'm wrong. I know where Whales have eyes, I'm not stupid. And I wonder from your angle would you see so much of them.

Any actual "tips", how's the shading?

The shading looks kind of bland. I think the piece is too big.
