Speaking of shmups, I just D/Led Zero Wing for the genesis and played a round. The cutscene graphics have a dithering style that reminded me of yours a lot, P_O, and the ship design on the enemies reminded me of yours. The whole time I had a little voice in the back of my head shouting: "That looks a lot like something the outlaw made!"
Good game, though. I was playing on easy (I still hadn't figured out the controls by the options screen) and it didn't require as much skill as I'd hoped, but that can be remedied easily. The beginning was great ("What you say !!") and the gameplay good. The bosses didn't have very varied attack strategies except for one that was accompanied by a centipede that split into spheres you had to crush with your mechanized wingmen.

Somebody else would play lead synth guitar.
Leel would play the bongo drums.

The head structure of these animal people has always made me wonder. How do the ears connect? You see them coming from the top of the head but how would this fit in with the human ear canals? I say a dissection or at least good haircut in in order!
