i think oekaki can be presented here.
maybe my opinion is only among the mioroty here, but when you are working on somethink like oekaki, you do pay intension to every little detail, and yes - you do make "art" with pixels.
also i think that the oekaki can bring more veriaty to the works presented on this site.
i say- let these oekaki be presented here. let them be uploaded. and you do forget that if a person just sketching some nonsense and it is even not "worth" to be presented here- you can send it to to revise in the forums.

if you want to post your oekaki on pixel joint, thats fine, jsut do it in the None Pixel art thread...

if you want them in a gallery, go to deviantART.  this is PIXEL joint, as in a pixel art site, if oekaki was pixel art, it would be called pixel art.  period.

as long as i am an admin, it will never be allowed in the gallery, and i will revise every piece i see.

Oekaki =/= pixel art unless the procedure for doing pixel art in paint is applied while working in the oekaki program.

An oekaki is classified as oekaki only when it is simply a drawing that follows the rules of painting/drawing etc rather than the meticulous and precise nature of pixel art.

So, I vote a definite no. It will bring down the standards that we have so long had for what is quality pixel art. People will just keep submitting "messy" pieces and get away with it.

If anything, we could start a separate gallery for oekaki, but don't like that idea much, either. It would probably create confusion and oekaki would get leaked into the pixel art gallery way too much because dumb people can't tell the difference. Blah.

qft.

I just want to remind everyone that we're not bashing oekaki, some oekaki is really impressive and great, but posting it here would be like showing off your train diagram to people who work on jets.

I dunno, you get what I'm trying to say right? :p

why not have an oekaki/imageboard to go along with the site?

It could be seperate but linked, in the same way that this forum is seperate but linked to the main website. Of course it would be a pain in the ass, but isn't everything worthwhile a pain in the ass? :p

once again...

"if you want them in a gallery, go to deviantART.  this is PIXEL joint, as in a pixel art site, if oekaki was pixel art, it would be called pixel art.  period."

if there is an oekaki section, it should be a separate entity, a whole other site.  either that, or a scrap section that is not viewable in the public gallery...

the day that oekaki is accepted here, i will start submitting my photos and vector art too, because that is the first step to this no longer being a pixel art site.
