I need help. On MSPaint (Can't afford to get anything better..) I open up the template for the Joint single room.
When I try to change the colors it messes up, like for example green when used is black?!?
Anyone have any idea how I could fix this?
Thank You.
EDIT: The problem isn't with saving its with the colors. Like in the pallete I click on a color and try to draw with that color and it comes up like a color in the template. Edited by Fluffy - 25 June 2007 at 10:34am |

Go to file, then save as... then choose .bmp or .PNG
The colors should be fine now.
If not, then I don't know what the problem is...

Its not a problem in saving its in drawing. Won't let me use the colors in the pallete.

More than likely you need to change the file from indexed colors to RGB.

To Jalonso: How do you fix the RGB? I'm very new to this.. To Klav: The download for Giffy doesn't seem to work.
I figured out how to fix it. The problem only happens when I open up the file. But if I copy the template and paste it into a new paint window the colors work fine.
Thank You all for trying to help.
EDIT: this link works for Giffy: http://www.downloadbumk.info/GiFFY-20_download-9706.html Edited by Fluffy - 25 June 2007 at 11:27am |

The reason is because the gif file is indexed, which means that you have a set palette. That particular gif's palette doesn't have a green color, so paint uses the black, the color it thinks is closest. To get into a mode where any color is fair game, you need to save as 24-bit BMP and then do your pixelling. After you're done you use another tool to convert it back to gif because paint is bad at making gifs with the correct palettes.
Hopefully this explains what dragonrc meant and elaborates on what jalonso said.
