Ok, well I've already started it, so if someone would really rather he wasn't non-human, please lemme know so I will give up on that square ^.~

I think you should just roll with it, Amythist. If it's calling for you to give hi9m a non-human base, then go for it! Creativity is key :)

I was going to do that square but for some reason I saw something unhuman in the "future" legs as well and thought it wouldn't fit. (My idea was to make a fin tail - like a mermaid) So I made a different square, but in my opinion, some weirdness would bring spice to this wondering piece.

didnt have much time to start a cool mosaic, however added a little
road and shadow to floating island. One other thing i noticed is the roads have no lines down the centre, i would fix if i get some time.

the color in sharks version is a lot darker than the version that I was working off of o.0 So.. I suppose I'll go with the lighter version that was origionally used? o.0' if not, someone can edit ^_^'
here we go.. and Zoomrix that's really funny.. I thought of a merman tail at first as well o.0' oh no oh no! I just noticed that.. when I saved the image.. there's a white spec on the floaty island. Somebody saaave it. <sorry a bit hyper today> Edited by Amythist |

not only is there that white speck but there also seems to optimization issues when you save it. The whole image is much brighter and some of the colours are lost completely. Also, there are trace fragments of pixels that don't belong anywhere... looks like a saturation tool was used on it. I'll try and fix it up but, you should check out your opimization format if you do have one

Everyone should save it as PNG, I think it's the most suitable format.

the building on the left with the green sign would be going underground at the momentso I think we will have to pretend it starts nearer to us and is a high building lol |

moggy: The building with the green sign isn't going underground... It can go as tall as we make it. And like you said, It Depends where we put the base.
But it can never go underground, per-say.. unless it's like the green building, where it one wall is taller than another wall. |

leel: for once I have to disagree about Ryan's "attitude". He was simply stating the facts on the buildings situation. Let's just keep this thread focused on the mosaic and not the flames. Peace + Love + Happiness

I hate to bitch more folks but, there's been a few people messing with the brightness as well as having some weird trace amount of miscoloured pixels everywhere. As per the brightness/darkness issue... compare one from page 4 to the latest http://img324.imageshack.us/img324/3894/city4aw.gif http://img322.imageshack.us/img322/4883/isocity8fj.png This is pretty ridiculous and it's getting so dark that we're losing some of the "magic" colour that we used to have. It could end up being a black rectangle for all I know. |

It's because whoever saved the dark one saved it as a png vs. gif compression. PNG makes the image darker.

I saved mine as PNG since I work in MS Paint (as many others, I'm sure) and saving as PNG is easier and faster. I didn't know it makes an image darker, but I only made one square so far, I'm sure I'm not the only one making this mistake...

What everyone should do that uses MSPaint, is download a free bmp to gif converter. You save it as .bmp it paint, open the converter, open the image, save it as a .gif. I use GIFFY. It's fast and simple to use.

Doesn't IE have a problem displaying PNGs? If an IE user
copy-'n'-pastes a PNG perhaps that might be part of the problem. I
dunno though, I just use Firefox.

IE has very very crappy PNG support. As far as I know, 5.0 and
below do not support png transparency at all, not even sure if 6 does,
IE is the bane of the web design community.

Well I don't know if this is good to do or not but it seems to work for
me. In MS Paint pick save as: .bmp, but before you click 'Save" change
the file name to 'blahblah.gif'. This seems to save the file as
a .gif but the colors are not compressed.

Sorry for the double post. I did my best to lighten up the picture to
match the brightness of the earlier versions. On the left is the most
recent map lightened, and below it is one of the earlier ones. Take a look:

To make things easier with these types of posts where it's adding on to a single piece with multiple contributors it might be best to just specify a single file format. GIF for this piece? |

Thanks for fixing it up Amion! Anyways, here's another tile done up... hmm... what is that? An eye? Could it be a funky toyshop? Maybe a giant robotic purple monkey? Thought this town needed some spicing up

Might we make the whole thing animated if this ever gets finished? Like, from teh very first picture to the very last one. Showing how it evolved as one giant puzzle. =] Edited by PandaPlanet |
