As the title says I'm looking for a tile editor for level making.

Right now I'm using Mappy, it's ok, doesn't have all features I would like but still, it works.
I've tried Tile Studio a little, and even though it had some nice features it never really satisfied me, and it didn't export to .MAP or any other file type but it's own. I would need the editor to be able to export to file types that a coder easily can read to make use of in a game.

I'm of course very greatful to any help at all.

Hmm... actually I think it would help to also ask the question, "What tile editor do you use" in a forum were people come to talk, not just this one were people come to help, or would that be one thread to much??

Are you coding the game or is this a collaboration with you as the artist? I find that when programming a game's map/tile system it's easier to write a format that's specific to my game so it's intuitive and doesn't have wasted space. Then a tile editor is pretty easy to write in an hour or two if you have bits to take from the main game engine. So you might try asking your programmer if he/she would be able to do that for you.

If you're programming this yourself and you were looking for a good tile editor so you don't have to make one, I can't really say--I don't know the features and options all the programs have.

RPG is numberwang.

Yeah, that's what happend.
The programmers here talked for a minute and decided one of them could make it, and with all the features I want.
Thanks anyway.

Hello Crylar,

This project seems to be going in the lines of a tile editor with
buttons/switches to click to get a full blown game.
But ... it hasn't finished yet.

Good luck with the project!

Best regards from
