This isn't meant to be an overly obscure question, but I was wondering if anyone familiar with Ultima7 (one of the greatest games of all time, by the by), could possibly estimate how many work-hours it would take to create the artwork that makes up, say, the town you begin in, Trinsic. Here are some screens to refresh the memory:

The gist of this vague question is that I always found the world depicted in Ultima7 to be really wonderfully detailed and atmospheric -- were one to try to create a world even 1/10th that detailed, would it be dozens, hundreds or thousands of hours of pixel-work?

Holy crap the perspective just brought back my headache.

I'm no expert (so basically ignore this post), but i'd say it wasn't as great graphic/pixelart wise as you're making it out to be (although it is very good). However yes, i'm sure it would take ages, and probably had a team of artists.

Lol this post is so pointless.

yeah, that particular projection isn't common, is it...didn't seem to induce as much vertigo when I was 14...
