I've resently found som tricks for MS Paint.
Does it count as cheating if I use them in a pixel?

Let's use the old "Would/could you do it by hand?" rule:
The AA is cheating; you could not duplicate that effect by hand.
The other one is kinda iffy, but if you're able to do it by hand and make it look good, go for it.

The first 'trick' is really no different from resizing an image in a more advanced program like Photoshop (other than Paint's apparantly worse resampling algorithm). The entire point of pixel art is that you are in control of every pixel, and that's definitely not the case here.

AA - No.
Watereffects - It should be fine as long as you pixelled the original image you're planning on doing this to. A word of advice from me though, never do it. Lol. |

You're resampling so no. Sampling is what pixel art is all about if you don't pick the samples yourself it then pixel art it ain't.
Nothing to stop you using these things in NPA though. P.S. What's up with that resampling in the first one? Looks like it applies a sharpen filter. P.P.S. What version of paint is that in the first link with those colourful icons? Never seen it before. Edited by surt - 11 November 2007 at 1:38pm |
