I figured I need an avatar so here is what I have so far. 11 colors pixeled in GrafX2. Please tell me what I can do to improve the image.

Your avatar is too large for one, the max size is 64x64, yours currently is 73x101.
The face is fine but the anatomy of the neck looks off. Secondly you can't tell were the neck begins and were the jaw ends. Shade in or outlining the jaw should correct the issue.
Also the shoulders are too small, maybe lengthening them would help, unless that was your intention then ignore that bit. On a positive note; I do like the innocent feel of it. Good luck. Edited by Solid Pixel - 24 November 2007 at 5:22am |

It has no mouth, so no jaw. Ha, figures I would draw one too large. Thanks for the C&C. What do you think of the color choices? Does the dithering look stupid?
Here i did a quick pixel of the character's full body within 64x64 ![]() Edited by thedaemon - 24 November 2007 at 10:03am |

I like this character, and think it looks quite nice so far!
![]() I think a little more attention to be paid to the aa (it seems a bit haphazard in some places), and to the shapes in general. Remember to make shapes as close as possible to what you want, and use aa only to smooth. I did an edit (I removed the dithering and added 2 colours, so this may not be what you had in mind). My edit on right: And I know your character doesn't have any arms, but I was having some fun and added some ![]() Note that I am not very skilled at aa myself, so this is just an example, and some places look a bit dodgy on my edit. Hope this helps! |

Ok here is the latest update. Am I on the right track? I am still learning how to AA properly, not 100% worried about it yet in this stage, just trying to get the overall color's down and basic shading. Thanks for the paint over it has helped a bunch.

I fixed it to actually work as an avatar here. Guess I might update the other one to look like a card perhaps. Anyways, what should I do with the background? How is my AA coming?
