This seems like an interesting enough idea. For now I'll just watch and see how it turns out.

hi guys. I am contributing because:
1- i also need to improve.
2- i want to spread th knowlege of pixel art to more and more  people. I want to keep this art alive.
3- Have nothing to do all day but wait until a computer needs fixing ( i work as an IT guy) so i thought helping people improve would make time fly.

Nice idea, I like it. This way you can share wisdom with eachother in a closer way.

Maybe a nice adding to the club fun thing:
- How about each week (or so) you pick a piece from someone that needs c&c. But instead of giving c&c you all make your own intepretation of how you should finish that piece (if he/she gives approve of that). So at the end you get like 6 different pieces which all started the same (an un-finished piece).

P.S. the group should pick the piece and ask the owner if they can finish it. Don't send your "unfinished pieces" in so they can finish it.

Good idea? Bad idea? Flame me if it s*cks :p

hey mutts, i discussed with dogmeat the following.

We will create, ( later on ) a thread for posting all your ( and other PJ members ) pixel how to's.
This thread is about how artists go about  pixelling their images while explaining the decisions they made through out that time.

Also in this thread we will have a featured artist every week where he/she writes their own how  to.
We are working on a format ( everyone is welcome to submit ideas) for these how to's so the thread wont start yet.

Dogmeat do you need badges? I can make some. And I'll make a guide I have a great idea for a banner too.

Something like that pic as a silhouette. Basically we'll have the dogs following each other.

Dog 1-----Dog 2------Dog 3 and so on, and they'll be running to the left and they'll have like a string holding baloons or something saying the Dog Pound.

Ooh I like your idea of having a strict template for the guest to use. To elaborate on spartans idea:

1. We will find a guest host ( think of a tv show ) to invite for the week to write the tutorial.
2. Once the guest host has accepted the offer ( lets use fool for this example ) we will send Fool the template ( sheet with 6 64x64 boxes ).
3. The guest will use the template to pixel some scene using their pixel style starting from the first box to the last documenting what they did in between in text.
4. Once done Fool would send the sheet back to us ( by posting it within this thread ) and we will discuss the sheet asking questions if needed.
5. Once we feel we have a solid tutorial that can be presented to the rest of the forum we'll throw the tutorial in the sticky PJ user tutorials thread which will be created to display these.

I think the question/answer phase is important so we can ask things like "what did you do prior to creating the lines", "how come you used this color, we don't understand, so others may not, if we get more information then everyone will understand"

We want to look these things over as if we were detectives, thinking not only of all angles, but outside of the box as well.

Great job so far Spartan, also, I've updated the first post in this thread to better outline what we're about.

wow this is like exactly the idea I had in mind for pixel-pax (well not exactly, but the general idea of a weekly tutorial every week by some1 else..)..
does this mean this is a good idea because others tought of it too, and so I have to use this,
or does it mean it sounds stolen now and I have to think of other original thinkgs

I think that for activities some good ones could be like Improve this pallete, aa this piece with the given pallete, revise his pixel, anatomy practice, that sort of stuff. And I'm getting straight to work on some AA tutorials, some WIP step things, and much more!

How about we have a ranking system with the points? I've made all the rank images already then.

•0-29 points=Red Collar
•30-59 points=Blue Collar
•60-119 points=Green Collar
•120-199 points=Black Collar
•200-59=Red Spiked Collar

and so on like that?

50 pix tall is good.
Width-wise it shouldn't stretch the page.

Good idea, as long as we get permission from whomever it is. The problem with that is that it may actually hinder progress for the artist so some kind of disclaimer along with the request to the artist should be sufficient.

With this, we may even want to include that user as part of an activity where we each do our interpretation of the piece ( finishing it as you said ) giving the user different perspectives on their art.

Club, did you want to join the Dog Pound?

Also, everyone else, please let me know if you are going to participate in the C&C for skull masters WIP I posted earlier. I want to compile all of the C&C into a thread and start discussing sometime this week.

Join the club? I love to *hence the "club" in my name*
Have the time, skills, endurance, etc. ? I don't know, but I'll try to participate with all the free time I have. Well sort of hehe.

(The thing is I'm only here while I'm at work)

Put me on the list, and we'll see right?
