why do you not like the Da Vinci Code?  I found it to be quite a page-turner.

Well exactly that to be honest. It's a book that rides on keeping the reader in the dark in order for them to be interested. But then the plot just didn't grab me becuase it gets to a point where it becomes kind of obvious what the author is doing. And also the characters for a large part are 2-dimensional and everyone in the entire book 'grins' every 10 seconds.

It was too movie thriller-y with a cliffhanger in every chapter,  a bit cheesy at times, but it was still an exciting story line though.  At least in my opinion.

Movies: Star Wars, especially Episodes IV-VI and I, The Princess Bride

Books: I'm a serious SF fan; the classic authors like Asimov, Wells, and Heinlen were brilliant writers (Stranger From a Strange Land was crazy good), and there are a lot of good things coming out these days too. I tend to dislike historical fiction, though I'm not yet sure specifically why. I find short stories very appealing, and SF anthologies are some of my favorite books. And The Gods Laughed may be my favorite collection to date; it's either that or Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Treasury. Oh, cruds. I almost forgot The Stars My Destination. The protagonist in that book is awesome, the premise is sweet, and I love it to death. Why don't I have my own copy? D:

Music: I can't identify with rap, and country has a few gems but a lot of trash. Rock is my main genre, but some pop songs are great, and classical is always nice. Elevator music is good too, when you're too high-strung and need to relax. Most new music is trash, too; Queen and the Beatles are some of my favorite bands, and I love quite a few of the songs from the Katamari Damacy series soundtracks. Parodies and original songs by Weird Al are usually good, as well.

RPG is numberwang.

Movies: Tron, Hackers, Yellow Submarine, The Importance of Being Earnest

Books: OpenGL Programming Guide-The Official Guide to Learning

Music: The Beatles, Clapton, Led Zepplin, The Who, REO Speedwagon, Jefferson Starship, The Eagles, The Byrds, The Mommas and the Pappas, Boston, Pink Floyd, Bad Company, Bee Gees, ABBA, BTO, CCR, Cheap Trick, Blondie, The Police, Crosby Stills and Nash, Dave Clark Five, Deep Purple, Steppinwolf, Enio Morricone, Gordon Lightfoot, The Kinks, Buffalo Springfield, Rush, Strawberry Alarm Clock,  The Doors, Van Morrison, Foreigner, Yes! That is all I can think of for now. I love me the hippie musics and 70's rock and disco.

Music from my generation is pathetic. Mmm disco goes down smooth, I should post some youtube vids of me cutting a mean rug.

I read programming books like novels. I really enjoy them. The only "classic" I ever liked was Moby Dick. I think killing a whale with a harpoon makes for a manly man.

Movies:
Brazil, Time Bandits, Adventures of Baron Munchausen,
Swingers, Magnolia, The Thing, Shower, ... really the list goes on - I love movies and own quite a bit. Some classics and some cheesy as hell.

Music: alot of breakbeats, dirty house, some rock here and there. Lately: Meat Katie, Krafty Kuts, Plump DJs, Radiohead, Linkin Park, Van Morrison.

Books: Gotta say I did like The DaVinci Code.. but I enjoyed Angels and Demons alot more. Others include The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and Otherland by Tad Williams. I've also been reintroduced into graphic novels lately. Promethea by Alan Moore was a dense metaphysical journey I quite liked. Also check out Preacher, DMZ, Ex Machina, and Alan Moore's Swamp Thing.

Hehe, someone sure likes Terry Gilliam! Brazil is one of my favorite movies as well, but The Seven Samurai comes first.

Books: I enjoy pretty much any non-fiction. The geek in me especially loves anything about theoretical physics. Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid is real desert island material.

Music: Recently I've been listening to Hank Williams (the first), Coldcut, Grand Buffet, Toecutter, Neil Young and Nina Simone. It changes a lot from day to day.

I like some of his later work too but it's alot of hit and miss. He regained my faith in him with Tideland (even though it didn't get much rave).
Seven Samurai is definitely in my fave list too, just not at the top. Akira Kurosawa was a master of his craft for sure.

Also got to mention I love most if not all James Stewart movies, especially when combined with the talents of Alfred Hitchcock.

Movies: I'm truly fond of all Sci-Fi and Action movies. specially when they are combined. Alien, Blade Runner, Terminator, Star Wars, Starship Troopers, Ronin, The Professional, Atlantis(I quite like the artwork of that movie)(?), SteamBoy,  and others as well.

Books: I do not read anything that I do not have to(by this i mean all these texts that i have to read for my language lessons). lame, but true. but it doesn't mean that I've enjoyed some readings in the past like 100 years of solitude and some short stories by Julio Cortazar.

Bands: Minibosses maybe... but nah. I do not listen anything genre in special, rather i pick a bot of everything

mmm i just finished reading the complete collection a month  or so ago.

1st book was fantastic, 2nd was pretty funny, 3rd was completely pointless, 4th was pretty good, 5th was like 'wtf' but in a good way.. by the end I decided to forgive the poinlessness of the third book, because the end tied it together pretty well and I was satisfied.
