Hey glenn.
Hi glenn. I see that you are far in making pixelart. Your shadows are being better after seeing your last art. You need just some tips for shadow. Try to make a bigger animal or just make your old one better. You can look the animal down on Google to see the best shadow. And always look to other people their arts.

Don't worry about your English.
You might actually want to add legs in the background. It's only standing on two right now. |

Not bad work. You seem to only be lacking in pixelart techniques. Keep at it and look around the forum and the gallery for tutorials, samples and general questions you may have that already have answers. Its all here, if its pixelart. Welcome.

Now gamemaker is known all over the world, but biggest non official GM communities are Dutch. For games you need sprites For sprites you need pixel art And there is some guy.. ehm nevermind about his name who links the most talented spriters to PJ.. just as this one... Great you joined glenn! (ik ben die ene persoon van dat ene forum )Your animals are nice, but to make them look more realistic, you will have to study the skeleton structure of the animals and pictures of them. This is very hard actually.. I think your best work right now is the ship, thats why I will be giving C&C on thatone. Lineart is good enaugh at the moment, the colors could use some more work. To start with, it might be usefull to have more contrast. This will make the ship look less flat, and more intresting. Also, allways reuse the colors you have used before in pixel art. I also changed the hue a bit. Next step is to get your shading more accurate.. you have only shaded the front part.. the front part shows that the light source is on the right.. than the right part of the ship should be light aswell right? I have changed a few more things aswell ![]() Now try these steps your own :) Als je het niet begrijpt, geen probleem ik leg het graag in het nederlands uit voor je :) |

Lollige, (lollig is goed XD)
Hmmmm... who will be that guy that have tell me about this forum.... hmmmm
The things i want make better is more textures on the skin on the animals.
But that will be so difficult...
I understand, if i first made a skeleton and make it a different image as the animal itself than i can make a skeleton and than draw the skin on it and save the skeleton with the skin as a different image.
That will be the most difficult thing i have ever done.
But i can try it.

If you mean a skeleton as in bones I sugest you just make a wireframe lol.
As for texture, its not that hard really. The gallery has many great works and can probably show you how texture properly on all these animals.
Good luck

@Blackdragon,
for me it is really hard to create a good texture.
Because i pixel maybe 6 monds.
And the most of things i made are sprite's.

You really spend too many colors on those..

I think that you should spend more time on your sprites, instead of making new ones. Woah, what's the count of Blue shades on the plane? 9? You seriously need to reduce the colour count. Good luck.

And i make pixelworks only a half year, and i am only 11 (over just 3 monds 12

Hey Glenn,
<translation> It's not that hard to get the same effect without using pillow shading, you might know pillow shading is a big nono here. The least amount of colors you have to use to shade is 3. The neutral main color, the lightest color and the darkest color. You can use dithering to get 3 more colors (hard technique). To shade a tube (because that's what a plane is) without using pillowshading I'm redirecting you towards the tutorials floating around on PJ (Homepage, and then search around in the menu). There's a nice one about shading objects like these. </translation> Edited by Club Beuker - 06 February 2008 at 7:45am |

Now up your contrast a bit. It'll give you more depth. I might give you a little update (if I can find the time)
Edit: And if you do it right, you might end up with something like this or this or this with some AA ![]() Edited by Club Beuker - 08 February 2008 at 12:52am |

A direct translation is: Dankje, I can try it, but without Pillow shading (good orthography?) weet I how I it can ' shade get same impact '.
Meaning: How can I get same impact without Pillow shading? (?) I think |

lGlenn, it appears that this has been said already, but i'll ask you again: are you asking for help on how to improve these images, or you are just showcasing them?
If the idea is to ask for help, you have to actually show any kind of progress(or interest, or something) on these, based on the comments that people gave you, and please stick to one image untill it can be defined as 'done'. this is not any kind of rule, but a least give us a sign that we are not wasting our time. on the other side, if you're just showcasing these, please be warned that the forums are not the best place(while indeed it is not the place) to do it. you are encouraged to submit these to the site's gallery, but honestly, based on the images you have posted i would not recomend this for now. you decide. |
