Find the piece of pixel art in the gallery on the main site, and click the "Use for Avatar" link if it meets the size constraints (<64px on each side).

(I'm guessing whatever it was got removed.)

agentsk8r505, all you have to do is go to the gallery (preferably your own) fine a piece you like and click on the "make it my avatar" button.
