I am looking for a dedicated, motivated pixel artist - no experience is required. I need someone with determination and persistance, and a desire to earn some cash.

First, I'll give you a very tiny background on myself: I have been with a game-creation website called BYOND since August of 2001, and have had 3 decently successful projects. Two have been RPGs, one was a top-down shooter. I worked on staff for BYOND actively for about 3 years, and then passively where my time allowed for 2 years after that.

I am currently employed as a software developer for a company based out of Ann Arbor Michigan - Solidica. I am 23 years old and still in school. I am pursuing an associates in computer programming with an emphasis on object-oriented languages like C# and Java. Beyond that, I am pursuing a bachelors in game design. My dream job is lead design consultant for any company looking to make an innovative MMORPG.

Due to the nature of these older projects, they are nothing remotely close to the quality of this current endeavor. The current project is already well underway, we're using placeholder graphics. (all three of the above projects were developed between 2001 and 2003)

I am very serious about my current project, because it is essentially dream material for my future employment resume. I have a number of goals that I want to accomplish, and BYOND is the perfect place for rapid development and being able to popularize this game.

I'm looking for a pixel artist that can do semi-cartoon-like graphics - very vibrant, rounded, colorful. The theme is a very "old school" feeling RPG that uses an overworld system, along with your usual towns, dungeons, castles, and very elemental themes (like snow and desert). All the object and character graphics are black bordered graphics, which may affect the art style.

Here's an example of the placeholder graphics (older RPG maker), which are close to what we're looking for:


All character graphics will be two frame with no animation. There are no movement graphics, the icon just "dances" back and forth as if the two frames were walking. (This is negotiable, but it really depends on my limited and funded-by-myself budget. =)

In addition to land, object, character, and monster graphics - special effects and "ability icons" will also be used. The ability icons represent what a given spell or skill does, they will be circular button-style graphics that you will click on to execute commands. (Like most any modern MMO)

If you think you fit the bill, I would absolutely love to hear from you. Like I said before, this is a serious project. I would ideally like to see someone that is interested in sticking with the project to be involved with our development team. Initially, I'll be paying in chunks of $10 per assignment, and the assignments will be sized accordingly. This could be a handy way to make some extra money, and if you're serious about a career that could use these skills someday - this could be a great reference point.

As we build trust and work together, the payments and assignments will increase, as your schedule allows.
