Hiya! ^__^
I've been trying to create a more realistic water effect in my recent work... I've followed the tutorial by Matriax (http://gas13.ru/v3/tutorials/isomteric_pool_pixel_art_tutorial.php) and it looks great. But is this way of doing it acceptable as pixel art? Theoretically both layers are pixels placed by hand - its only the merging with changed opacity that makes this a bit of a dilemma... What do you think? |

It depends on your Own criteria. In PJ's context, no. the sire is very strict about using semi transparent layers in any way to create pixel art. on the other side, in a commercial work, or under specific conditions(e.g. a game engine) those may be allowed.
Anyway, a water surface can be still created without the need of 50%opacity layers(and in my opinion, they look better) proof of this lies here http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/30472.htm |
