right.

I didn't understand anything you said, but I think this could be a tad more appropriate in "Meet and Greet"

I just saw that one episode with patch tonight, at my girl friend's house.

Boomhauer's the best.. I still haven't seen that episode where he
speaks all normal and everybody talks like him.

well, I wouldn't say it's the worst... but certainly not the best. It can be funny, but for me it's not interesting enough to watch regularly.

"very wierd"? really?

I'm the fifth on that list, the only one I saw as funny was when some guy went crazy and went to live in the forest... or something. It was late, my good judgement was sleeping.

I hate redneck comedy. That show is horrible. It's totally un-funny and pretty boring like so-lou said. I'm from Texas and I find their depiction of people from Texas really really insulting.

I tried to sit down and watch one episode, but I couldn't. It was just that bad.

I think thats the whole point of the cartoon. I see the show as a deep satirical swipe at redneck America, totally un-pro-Americana actually. The funny thing being that it never breaks character.

I agree that it can be a tad straining to sit through more than a couple of episodes, but then its never been the most popular show so its not like it suffers from being 'over-rated.'

Oh, and another reason I dont mind the show is because I can do a spot on Hank Hill impression, from when his appearance in The Simpsons episode where Bart plays PeeWee Football-'We drove 15 miles for this!'

...Obviously its better in non-text form.

I feel that people who use the term 'overrated' to describe something have the tendency to listen to other people/the media too often. After all, something being overrated in one's eyes must mean that everyone around them seemingly loves that something and goes on about it, and one gets tired of hearing it. Simple solution: have your own opinion.

good point. i haven't watched family guy in a while, although it isn't all that bad, i don't get tired of hearing people talk about the show. I wouldn't say it is overrated though, mainly because it isn't that bad, and alot  of people i know don't like it. the only shows that i would say are overrated are South Park, and blue collar tv. i hate blue collar tv

King Of The Hill is the Napoleon Dynamite of animated TV series, in other words, pointless, boring and utterly mind numbing.

Both also seem to appeal most to the people living in those kinds of situations, people who can recognize themselves in the characters, suburban, middle to low income hicks more or less. Not trying to put anyone down or anything, just calling them as I see them.

I will partially agree with you. The new episodes of family guy are very crude, not funny, try too hard to be funny, and even more controlversial than before.

But the old ones were funny as hell and orginal. After 3 years they lost their edge.

iSTVAN sums it up perfectly -- it's a satirical look at middle-America.  I actually love King of the Hill. They take time to develop the characters and they frankly deal with some real issues in America.

Edit:  iSTVAN gets bonus points for recognizing what the show is while not even being an American. Kudos.

I know it's a satire to redneck "America". That's what I'm saying: this theme for a satire is not funny, it's just plain annoying.

1ucas:  Maybe it helps that in America we see these types of people all the time. I'm not saying you would like the show if you lived in America, but it might help.

Whootwhoot! BONUS POINTS!

We get so much American content over here, its no wonder I like it. I can also relate to the show through Australian suburbia, which is very similar in character.

I agree Sedge, I love that the show builds its characters up more so then most cartoons. The laughs may not always be laugh out loud, but just try and tell me Bobby Hill's voice doesnt crack you up! Ha.

im not saying dont post your opinions.... just dont blackmail me with hate-posts. why would you click on to the topic if you hate the show? i wouldnt go into a topic labeled "the simpsons" (its an example) if i hated the show. because if i did, i would be pretty sure the author/person who posted wouldnt want to hear from someone who hated their favourite show. and if you hate me, dont reply to my posts. just leave. to those of you WHO LIKE (or think its ok) KING OF THE HILL, you rock!

Er, I didn't see anybody 'blackmail you with posts'. Dude just because someone doesn't like a show you like doesn't mean you have to get so defensive. If you post about something you have to accept SOME people won't like it. Get over it, big deal. If you don't want to hear different opinions on things you like then simply don't make a thread about it at all.

Also, don't double-post please, there is an edit button.

What the hell kids? This is a topic about the show, not about people who post about the show. Lay off and let everyone have their own opinions which is what you seem to be all for. Very hypocritical if you ask me.

Anyway on to the show. I have seen a couple of episodes. the humour is very strange. Its not so much laugh out loud as family guy but its still very amusing. But then I thought sleepy hollow was hilarious so that might just be me. Anyway I think I'd be more of a fan if they didn't play the same episodes over and over.

lol... this thread was fun to read... but King of the Hill IS an "attack" at redneck America... actually... the guy that wrote the show is from my rival high school (yes in Texas) and apparently the show is supposed to depict how he viewed us... well "us" like 10 years ago! I think it's funny, mainly because being from Texas I KNOW a lot of those people!! Hank Hill reminds me so much of my bf's dad it's just hillarious! And how they always have town meetings and what not at Pancho's! (The Panchos on the show does bear a striking resemblance inside to the one I go to) I am not a "redneck" by any stretch of the imagination but being from Texas I do know some... and that show just hits close to home for me... so I like it...
