Hi guys! I'm about to start a new style on Pixel Art. I'm wondering if it's good to use black outlines. Here's an example:

What's better? The left one, or right one?

thanks 4 da help.

I would say, black outlines are only good as the most external outline.

I think black outlines are quite always useless, I'd rather do just darker outline colours.

I dunno, black outlines could be good if you're making cutscenes for an anime game. Or for things that might need to stand out more.

It really depends on the situation in where the sprite is going to end up.

I think it depends on how much you want to separate the figure from the background. infact a dark outline with a dark background is quite useless.

in resume: dark outlines are used either to buff the contrast or to give a catoonish appearance. but these are just two applications for this.
