Hi,

I wrote an open source jump'n'run game called "Snowball". It's fully functional and comes with a built-in leveleditor. For the next release I would like to replace all or nearly all of the graphics, since I'm not a good artist ...

Here's the website: http://www.snowball.retrovertigo.de/

Well, it's a free game, so I can't pay you, but credit is given of course!

All the tiles / sprites are 32 x 32 pixel. I don't mind if they are pixeled or renderd, an ice / snow and dark / gothic theme would be nice though

Here is a list of what needs to be done:

Player: a penguin, walk left / right, turn around, jump, duck, climb ladder, die.
Snowball: just rolling left and right.
Enemies: skull, spiked sphere, ghost, zombie, fire devil and spider.
The enemies just need to walk left / right and turn around.

The background and tiles are not so important for now, but if s.o. wants to have give it a try I wouldn't say no

Thank you very much for your time!

Greets,
Willi

It's great to see someone that already has the programming side done and just needs graphics replaced. It's not common to see a programmer do that. I can't personally help you, but I think you should be able to find a free artist since it's just a few sprites for an already completed project.

Woo, I'm interested! It'll be a nice way to kickstart my portfolio I think.

Sent an email to you already (from pyrofactor at gmail dot com)

The game is nice... (For information, it works well on my Fedora 3)

But a little bit too slow I think. You should speed up Tux a little bit...

For the graphics, I'm just a beginner in Pixel Art, so I don't think I can help you much, but...

Nice work, go on !
Bye...

Hi,

@Blick: thanks for the kind words! This was my intension, so an artist could just change the gfx and see the effect immediatelly. I also think, that the motivation is higher

@zps0: This is great! I've got your mail and I'm looking foreward to work with you.

@
jujucece: good to hear that it works! You're right, the player is a bit slow. It takes too much time to walk from one side of the screen to the other. I would have changed that, but it doesn't look good with my cheap two-frame-tux-animation
Don't worry about your skills, they will improve with the time.
I was also unsure if I should release my game in this state but hey I did it and I got a lot of positive feedback
I do also have plans for more games, my coding skills can only get better by writing more code

Have a nice day!

Willi
