first of all, stay away from using dithering between colors with a minimun contrast diference, since the viewer will barely see anything. second, please provide a context where you are using this dithering, since depending on the use you want for it a regular or irregular dithering(or even the lack of it) would be better.
dithering is not a must in any pixel process, please be aware of that. |

you don't really need to dither for shading here. in fact, you don't need to dither anything here. why not just using a good set of colors? o don't think you have any kind of technical restriction on the numer of shadoes you can use(since you've already had a poor contrast between each gray)
also, the volume and shading itself of the object is kinda... messy. more like two overlapped shapes than something integrated. not to mention one band has a lightsource in front of it and the other-the smaller one- has one below it. |
