Hi all,
Was trying to work on my color selection and was reading through this thread : http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=10695 ![]() I have some questions : Referring to a color ramp created by Kaiseto to help in his explanation ( Because i think it is the easiest to understand ) : ![]() 1. Is the idea here to save on colors by having some colors share the darker shades ? In this case all colors sharing the same darker shade. ( As Kaiseto said, as we go darker from any color, we desaturate and move towards the purple hue ). ![]() 2. I don't really understand the neutralizing of colors, Is the idea here trying to reduce on colors by replacing a shade of a certain color in one ramp with something of the same shade from the neutral ramp ? *EDIT I think this is the case as shown by cure in his tutorial at http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299 ![]() 3. I see that some WIPs have the color ramp displayed on them, is this done by a specific software? or do you guys manually paint circles and squares. Thanks in advance ![]() Edited by wuhu - 16 May 2011 at 2:25am |

1) That's not all there is to it, but yes that picture shows colors sharing the darkest/coolest colors.
2) Neutralizing colors in a ramp are a result of doing a hue shift from one color to an opposing color in a ramp. 3) If they do it'd probably be a Grafx2 script. I'm sure some just draw ramps normally but if you're wanting to display precise measurements then it would be done with a script. |

Thx man for the reply.
I guess it'll take me a while to understand all this ( Especially about the use of neutralizing colors ) |
