What do you mean ?
We need to put the main lines first, no ? To get the edge of the drawing. Then fill them with middle brightness colors. Then add shades, highlights, adjust, pixel corrections, anti alias, etc. Isn't this the correct way ? Edited by Hylst - 22 August 2013 at 11:00am |

well no, we dont have to put the lines first. Theres no "correct" way.
Another method is blocking out things via shapes of color, rather than line. I think Jal meant that its odd to do the outlines white on a black background since outlines are typically darker than what they incase. Actually working on a black canvas is one of my favorite methods when using traditional media, but it lends itself better to blocking out shapes than using lines, in my opinion. Working on a mid gray canvas is another often used approach, since you can block in lines, and highlights quickly this way. Your lines look fine to me, start coloring it. Do you plan to leave the dotted lines in places? Might work to use a solid outline in those places but with a lighter color. |

I understand.
So that is Jalonso means my reverse. I suppose you're right about the use of shapes of colour with such a dark background. It is because effets of the demo that will contain this gfx are on black blackground too. Mid Gray Canvas ? Why not. I'll change dotted lines, colours, or place according to the rendering in small reso. Why not a lighter colour in solid outline like you said, yes :) Thanks for your advice :) |

Rough lights, shades, several pixel corrected, looking for a jeans effect and a riddled shirt fine effect.

While this latest update is looking good try to be cleaner and more precise when pixelling so pixel areas/clusters are clean and pretty. Generally speaking you over pixel and dirty up your pieces a lot. |

The head/ face could be bigger. Also, the hand in the air looks weird. Is it supposed to be a thumbs up?

The head is not so big you're right. For the arm, yes, indeed, it's supposed to thumb up, but it's not a success :S
I have to change this. |

The face looks odd due to the placement of his eyes and the size of his hair. It makes the anatomy of his head look weird.

I think where his eyes are are fine, but I think the side of the face should be rounded out a bit more and the whites of the eyes should be... well, whiter.
On top of that, I also think the eyebrows should be darker. |

The angle of the feet seem inconsistent; his left foot seems too angled down. And maybe give him a smile? He's giving you a thumb up, unless it's a sarcastic smile. And shouldn't the face of the watch be facing the other way? And maybe the hand should be a pixel more forward?
Just little nitpicks of mine, this looks amazing |
