yep, another one.. so ive been working on a game.. but i scrapped that one and made another one and so far ive got 2 basic bgs (the back one is moving with the char ingame), some basic tiles and a nice hud. im using the animation training sprites i made right but they arent 'skinned' yet so they arent in the mockup
ive also got the damage stuff fully working with both bars and numbers, well enough talking from me..![]() ive been working no both sprites and coding most of the day (mostly coding) so its nothing awesome.. and no demo yet but maybe soon.. ill prolly need to change the big round part on the hud too so i can easily fit in random info there (like current weapon and ammo and stuff)oh and i need to come up with a good name and some ideas for the char, enemies and stuff ![]() |

That looks very excellent! I like how you didn't go nuts with detail on the background (that would make playing the game a bit confusing).
Makes me think of Castlevania. Any more game info? |

i thought up some quick story-ish stuff.. maybe it can be the future like 2050, the earth got destroyed by the greedy humans and they moved to another planet. some places on earth could be saved BUT the space terrorists have taken control over those places and our hero must kill the terrorists and take the places back.. thsoe places could be like famous places like draculas castle, the pyramids, disneyland etc etc.. i guess that could work.. maybe so the environment would be pretty normal but a bit destroyed by all sh*t the humans let out in the air and the hero would be some kind of futuristic space-cowboy thingy with cool weapons ill have to think more about that tomorrow |

What kinda weapon does the player have? Any super skills like double jumping? Sliding? |

@Grindie: yeah yeah i know but there is really no info right now >_> but the story might help come up with some.. like weapons will be like.. futuristic shotguns, rocket launchers and stuff.. double jumping would be cool and sliding can be added rather easily if i want to.. and ofcourse the char will have a flamethrower so he can set the terrorists on fire.. but as i said, ill to think more about it tomorrow, cause im going to bed now
but the whole theme will be futuristic stuff in classic (but slightly destructed) environment |

Looks nice, but I think the circle on the left hand side should be smoothed out a bit. The lines look a bit jaggedy. :)

@Aleiav: yeah that circle is gonna get changed anyways >_> i have thought out the main char, Bruce the SpaceCowboy! ![]() idle: (it'll be slower ingame)hes wearing a kevlar shirt, kevlar pants and traditional cowboy boots + hat (remember that everything in the future is very flexible, thats why his clothes are made of kevlar) and he will have a futuristic revolver to shoot enemies (to start with that is.) and everyone in the future have a special space suit which is only a plastic bag wrapped around the head that you cant see or feel (so no need for spacesuits) however, the terrorists will actually have plastic bags on their heads :P anyways, back to finishing the hp/armor system in the game.. |

Anyways this is looking ok, although the floor tiles seem to gradiented. perhaps add some color to it instead of greys! |

@shark: yeah i think its a song.. not sure tho.. the floor tiles will be changed as soon as ive finished the hp/armor system and all bruce sprites..
im gonna give him jet-cowboy-boots so he can double jump also.. i need more ideas for weapons, items, enemies etc tho edit: mockup with new hud and with bruce in it: ![]() ive also made doublejumping and the armor system is done (only hp system to go and then imma finish bruce) kapish! theres probably easier ways do to the whole hp/armor thing and that but im to lazy to find out :P Edited by Quickie |

i'm not realy liking a couple of things on this, such as the clashing styles (both pixelwise as storytype wise) i wasnt envisioning indiana jones in here, but more of a furutistic rogue, with a hint of metroid then there is the simple, flat shaded cartoony chibi cowboy, and realisticly made windows tiles, and foreground. i would suggest spicing up the ground tiles though, they seem rather plain atm. i preferred the older hud (though with a bit better AAing) and might i suggest you throw a portrait in there?
overall speaking, it could use some more detail and a more unified design, but the techniques are used pretty well. i'm really digging the squares around the window

@snader: well i guess indiana jones doesnt really belong in such a game <_< and i might change him a bit to look more futuristic. the ground tiles will be changed soon and ill prolly end up changing the hud again :P a portrait in there is a good idea but i need a place where it will show what weapon currently in use and how much ammo is left..
oh well, back to work edit: heres the new bruce!i got tired of the whole space theme cause it wouldnt turn out right... so i turned him into a male stripper with guns! yay (both idle and jump anims in same) so this guy will fight terrorists and zombies in swamps, castles, cities and whatever... for absolutely no reason ![]() <_< oh cmon, i didnt have any good ideas Edited by Quickie |
