Hey guys, i have recently got into pixel art after doing a GCSE in graphics and because my little brother (Pixelator) has started doing it alot so i thought id give it a go and here are my first few peices so.... i class myself as a WIP so conscructive criticism is welcome
Bear in mind i made these in the worst computer room in my college that didnt have photoshop, only ye olde MS Paint so the things i could do were genuinley limited. So tell me, What do ya think for a first piece? Edited by Gryturd - 16 May 2007 at 7:10am |

Hehe, I have to admit you have done better peices in the past. *And ive done better poo's*. But default paint colours, or highly saturated colours are never good, unless used in a creative way. You stole my idea of a monster lol =].
And also, transparency is your friend!
Edit: You can change colours on MSPaint to a good pallette if you needed to. And lots of very professional peices use Paint. Edited by Pixelator - 16 May 2007 at 7:43am |

I made an complete edit of the shading to show you how you could turn your pallete more intressting and give some more volume. bear with me it's far from a perfect rendition of the character you wanted to portrait and its far from a masterpeice, but its meant to show you how to use a slight antialiasing, subtle dithering and to pump up the contrast.
Also notice how I changed the hue for my shades toward red or blue. gives a more interresting feel to the colors.

![]() Thanks guys for your input. Ill give it a go, i like this rendition of it, even though it looks like he is climbing out of an egg or something, the yellow bit is meant to be his belly, but it still looks cool!

As no one has replied i took the advice from above and attempted dithering on it. Feedback please? Critique on how to make it better.
Sorry for the double post
