Hi Darkwave,
Nice editor you have. So easy. The controls on the 'Enter' mode are not intuitive to me. I would like the arrow keys to change to the direction I want them to go. Really nice to see your own level with a lot of characters. Good job and looking forward to the minigame option being available as well as deploying my own game with it ! Best regards from M.E. |

Yes. It's already coded with macOSX in mind but I couldn't figure out how to compile for this platform on GNU/Linux
![]() Would you be so kind to write here the procedure to compile it yourself on OsX so that people can do it at home? Also a screenshot would be great promotion material ![]() dw |

I can't go too in depth while at work, but I can tell you what you'll need before you begin
You'll need Subversion (svn) to retrieve the source code. This may actually come with the Dev Tools (see below), I don't remember. You'll need Apple Developer's Tools (Xcode) to compile. Free, but you have to sign up as a developer (you don't need any proof or awesome coding skills or anything; it's available to everyone). It also probably came on a DVD included with your system disks. And you'll need some variety of the X Window System to actually run it (mm, and it probably won't compile unless it's installed). You can use XFree86 or Apple's X11 (what I use). It comes with your Dev Tools, but I think you have to install it separately. I would just post the binary I compiled, but it's only for PPC and I'm sure it's dynamically linked anyhow. More when I get home. |

I have and use DevTools. The snag for me seems to relate to the Intel chip, not the code :/

no no no, it should work fine with Intel. PPC would be more likely to cause problems and didn't, so yeah.

Compiling Isotopia for Dummies
To retrieve the source code, open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and type cd ~; svn co http://code.autistici.org/svn/isotopia/isotopia_new/ isotopia_new(You can copy/paste. Press return to input the command) This will put a folder called isotopia_new in your home folder. Now type cd ~/isotopia_new/; ./autogen.sh Wait for it to finish. It's done when you get the prompt back. And now ./configure It'll do some more grinding. When you get the prompt back do make Grind grind grind. Lastly make install Ta da! It's installed. Now open whatever variety of X Windows you have. X11 is located in /Applications/Utilities/. You should automatically get a terminal window. Type isotopia If this doesn't work, try /usr/local/bin/isotopia That's it. If anyone has any problems you can IM or PM me. |

Thank you for the support ![]() Anyway, keep in mind that the SVN version of isotopia is a "living thing" so you may find the source code or the building procedure broken sometimes ![]() We are making a binary version for tiger in order to make it simple for lazy users too ![]() Stay tuned. dw Edited by darkwave - 26 October 2007 at 1:14am |

I don't know if there's any specific lisense I can invoke, but you may do anything you like with that mini-tutorial with or without my permission. I tried to put it on your Trac wiki but couldn't figure out how. It seemed like you have editing priveleges restricted? Anyhow, I'll post a screenie later today. Thanks for maintaining such nice standard code! EDIT: Tags Edited by Hatch - 26 October 2007 at 6:55am |

Edit: Just uploaded the current stable version (Ubuntu/Fedora, Windows and Source Code) here:
http://code.autistici.org/trac/isotopia Originally posted by Hatch Compiling Isotopia for Dummies To retrieve the source code, open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and type cd ~; svn co http://code.autistici.org/svn/isotopia/isotopia_new/ isotopia_new(You can copy/paste. Press return to input the command) The SVN version is in a unstable state so I suggest you to use the "revision #117" using this SVN command: svn co http://code.autistici.org/svn/isotopia/isotopia_new -r 117 Then you should find a new folder called isotopia_new. Inside this folder run following commands: sh ./autogen.sh (make install doesn't work in this version) To run ISOTOPIA open an X Terminal and inside the isotopia_new/src folder execute this: ./isotopia Have fun and write to me in case of problems. Thank you, dw PS: If ./configure gives you problems try running again this: sh ./autogen.sh Then try again with ./configure and make ![]() Edited by darkwave - 29 October 2007 at 5:54am |

They spoke about our project on Italian national television:
Push "Guarda la Puntata" in order to see the video (Sorry for the bad media files... I hope to be able to create a better video only with our interview soon) I personally dislike television and main stream information medias but some promotion can be useful :) What about all you isometric artists out there? Someone has something made with ISOTOPIA to show us? Hoping to see isometric cool tiles and sprites soon, dw Edited by darkwave - 03 November 2007 at 10:36pm |

ISOTOPIA is just a tool/game and doesn't change normal copyright usage. Anyway I suggest you to share the result of your work under Creative Commons so project like your or like our could use it. You can use the Isometric Pixel art included in ISOTOPIA but remember to put somewhere visible our Credits wiki page if you do that. We will provide new pixel art in the future licensed with Creative Commons but nothing before 2008... We are working hard on ISOTOPIA new version so I suggest you to stay tuned and I invite you to use the Ticket System to provide suggestions and feedback! ![]() Thank you for the attention. dw |
