Have been working on THIS. It's the same character as from this piece and i hope to get the resemblance right. Obviously the main different between the two images is that her head is normal sized now in comparison to her shoulders, so ignore that... if you can.

Need to finish that Ichimaru piece tho goddammit.

Zeratanus, that bottom pic, did you draw the lines or just colour it? The lines are great but i think the colouring could use some work, don't be afraid to effect the lines with the colour, or to go as dark as the lines with the colour. I find it's best for them to integrate.

Hay look larwick is posting another picture.
I worked on Ichi some more, almost done now. Need opinions if you can give em since this is most probs my final WIP. Thanks babe.

sab, I like the viking a lot. And the puppy is kinda cute. XD

Lar, that look kinda spiffy. But the hand looks kinda odd to me. Looks a bit chubby, and there's something not quite right about the pinky. But otherwise awesome looking.

His lips do, and always have stressed me out. They look like a wirecut into plasticene, then re-mooshed in like 30 seconds. It's probably 'cause he's a character from an anime I'll never watch, but it makes me think of the :3 face, and that face makes me want to kill everything that exists.

Also, it lost some of the depthy relation bits from the drawing to the colouring. Mostly, I think, because we now can't see his arm actually going into the sleeve, so it looks kinda like some disembodied floating forearm. Iono, hard to put a finger on it exactly.

Overall better than I can do, so all nitpicks aside, I'm still jealous :D

I think you overcurbed the Shinso (:P) there, unless it's in it's released form or something which I haven't seen yet. Probably isn't since it looks pretty normal.
Or if it's just the way you like it in which case ignore this crappy edit I made

btw it's awesome anyhoo
Oh yeah and what Sab said about the hand that's holding the Shinso. It's a bit on the short side.

@Sab: I think this is due to the fact i'm trying to work with a character that has a very prominent long smile, and rendering that in a realistic way is a bitch. I'll see whether giving it some realistic shading on the lips will help the cause, thanks. :)
I'm going to go back and give it some real depth with lighting and colouring effects, it definitely needs some more for something like this. Thanks for pointing it out.

@Leroy: Yeah i completely overexaggerated Shinsou, although its release stretches the blade, so i wanted to give a strong impression of action (as if it was stretching towards the viewer).

Although saying that your edit is delicious. I'll tinker with it some more. :)

The hand holding Shinsou is actually meant to be held backwards, so his elbow is pointing out behind him. I think i may have to make this more visible and therefore easier to understand.

You've been a great help guys! :D

Reo, pretty damn good for 'a doodle'.

Opacus, between the strings, the glass dome and the bottom of the ufo, my head is starting to spin. There seems to be a bit of a perspective issue here. The strings are pointing down. The dome is not where it should be to be aligned with the center. And the bottom is at an angle separate from the rest of the two pieces.

Think you could pass off a tutorial to me? I could use practice with clouds.

Evilagram, tutorials are not everything.
Why not just try things, and study clouds and pictures of 'm while you are doing that?

This project took me a whole weekend to make, that was 2 weeks ago. This weekend I was finally able to see what it had become.
It was my idea to make an ice cube out of layers of colored water, but while I was looking for something to put it in, I found this mold. Even more fun, since it works as a candle now. I still have it, and it has been burning during one whole diner now, and I guess it can do 2 more.

Got rid of the machete. She gunna FUK U UP.

Update:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/Larwick/Devifull-19-wip.png

Right, i'm sure you're thinking 'unsheathing that machete quickly would be a BITCH', but fear not! The sheath is designed in such a way that the bottom clip can be popped out with a swift angulation of the blade's hilt, with the top being able to rotate the sheath to an angle in which removing the blade is easier. The bottom clip is used so the sheath doesnt wave about everywhere all the time. Hows that? Ok you're not interested but w/e.

That's interesting Antiboton :) I have a feeling it would work great pixelated.

Yay Leroy thanks.

Update:

I have a feeling i'll need help with these feet. Do they look ok? The positioning i mean. Most of the anatomy of the foot will be covered by boots.

Oh yeah and those trousers are very tight, i know. They have a hidden (non-metal) zip along the back leg that leads from the mid thigh - so it's basically just like putting on tight shorts at first. It's breathable waterproof material. BECAUSE I SAY SO.

actually the knuckles of the left hand are wrong, there is no way in the world for her hand to loo like that unless he has an extra boneless articulation in the middle of the palm. knucles should be somehow parallel to the wrist as the hand is sligthy twisted towards the body.

The base wedge of the hands is too rectangular. It needs to be thinner at the base and more round at the top where the fingers start.

As is it looks freaky because of it seems thick while the fingers are tiny and spindly. If you adjusted the central shape correctly then it wouldn't look as freaky.

Gonna be a bit tough to do though. At least, without redoing the hands completely, or at least most of them.

The hair and eyes are by far my favourite focal point in this piece. For my nitpicking session however, I'm going to direct you to 3 areas that I've attempted to correct in my edit (of course, you may have intended these things to look this way on purpose, in which case please disregard the following)

Her brow is a bit too defined for my tastes. I'm talking about just above her eyebrows where it is indented. I've smoothed that out giving her a softer look but still rigid. The indent at the bridge of nose seems a bit much as well. Lastly, her neck looks like it might twist and choke her to death. I've softened and smoothed that out as well.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing the final product and other concepts you've done up for this project.

Thanks guys! Great crits! I'll work on them as soon as i can. The hands have been pissing me off since i started, since i havent had any good references for them.

Great edit pixelblink, she looks more ladylike lol. You're right about the brow, i seem to have gone a bit overboard there.

I practiced for two weeks on hands and nothing else, so now I can do really realistic hands.

With hands, I use my own as references. Either by positioning them and drawing off what I see, or taking a shot with my crappy cellphone camera.
