Is there any particular reason why you're trying to make us think you're from the Netherlands? Your Dutch is awful. It's pretty obvious that it was translated from English using an online translation tool.

Oh, and welcome.

There are real people who really have a hard time speaking English, clearly you are not one of them. Now one likes an attention whore.

Hello everyone!

Well, I'm Mike I'm nineteen, Irish and I'm a university student. I study computer multimedia and software development, as a result of this I use photoshop a lot and became a bit bored of the usual art types we were doing, so recently I got into pixel art, and I adore it, I find it nice and relaxing and even started a few pixel city threads on other forums I went to, but sadly not enough people were interested, so I joined here seeing as everyone on this site loves pixels.

Anyway, I'll hush up now. :)

Nice to meet you all.

I like to pixel for fun only... i just love drawing, on paper most of the time.

Heres a stupid pic where you can see me and a friend. Im on the left. But i painted on our faces. Because. (if youre really interested in how beautiful i am theres still my fantasy self portrait)

EDIT: and yea, im dressed like that everyday at shcool etc.

Hello fellow pixelpushers. Fear me not for I am skeezer, the merciful.

I've been working in computer graphics for a long time, but just now developed an interest in pixel art, mainly because I want to make a game where pixel art is the most obvious choice. Chances are I won't be the most productive member on the forum, pesky full time job and everything. I hope to learn and improve my skills under your watchful eyes.

Hello everyone, recently joined because i was blown away by some of the art here.  It's completely changed the way i look at computer graphics on a whole, and i would like to pick it up. I'm only interested in nonisometric art though.  I wish to colour and shade the pixel way i'm not sure how to really start though. Anyway I have some questions

why the pixel artists here limit themselves to a palette usually under 64 colours?

where can i find non isometric pixel art done without these limits

should i antialiase my line art outline? i notice many don't

Looking foward to meeting you guys, and my very first attempt at pixel art i would post in the WIP section where hopefully you guys can help me out :)

Hey there HotNikkelz.

Why do pixel artists restrain the color count?
Because they want to stick with the older restrictions of having less colors. And they want to show that you can use less colors and have the same effect as ones with more colors.

Where can you find pixel art done with no limits?
DeviantArt.com

Should you AA lineart?
No, you should only do this at the end, when you have shaded.

oh oh ok, i get it thanks.  Pixel artists are minimalist in thinking you can say no :)

I have 2 final questions b4 i get started.

What is/are the advantage(s) of doing pixelart shading as opposed to more 'modern' methods

I intend to use a third party line art for my first 'project' but it is fairly large probably around 500x300.  Should i first shrink it to the size i want it to (photoshop) then do the cleaning, colouring and shading with zoom? or should i do it at that size and then shrink final product.

Reason i ask this is because i notice when resize a sprite and make it smaller, photoshop automatically antialiases it, and then i have to sharpen it to get a resemblance of what it was.  Hmm i probably just answered my own question lol

oh by the way I'm male 25 from the warm caribbean  Republic of Trinidad  Tobago.  Nice to meet u

More controll over the art. You will never know exactly whats going to happen when you let the computer decide

Salutations, i'm Nate. I just registered a day ago. I'm a video game/game system collector and I used to draw characters from games but now I draw my own characters and I also took an interest in the 8-bit graphics and the even yuckier graphics from the Atari age and I made sprites on my comuter like that but, now I make things more detailed with more colors. I also just submitted the first good-looking machine sprite I've made. |:|

Hi,  im ZERO99 and im new to pixel art. im looking to gain skills in both non-isometric and isometric pixel art as a side hobby. create great c i would also like to learn because i am an editor of the old FPS Doom 1 and 2 so i would like custom graphics for my maps and projects to spice them up a bit and go that extra mile with them. i am active in the doom community on Zdaemon which is an online port of Zdoom. i stumbled upon this site when i was looking for a great new avatar to use on some different forums and i saw the skill and pure total awesomeness of the members of the community and pixel art, thus deciding to learn the great art myself to befit my spare time and my editing in doom

New guy here. My name is Paul Veer, though I use the nickname Pietepiet around the net. I'm a 20 year old Game Design & Development college student from the Netherlands.

Lately, I've not really been doing anything other than being lazy, so I figured joining this forum might get me off my ass to actually pixel something again.

Aside from pixel-art, I also love making games, drawing, watching movies, playing games. You know, the usual stuff.

TL;DR :  Hi, I'm new. I'm the stereotypical nerdy guy!

Hullo.
I'm Christopher Kelsall, aka Christoballs. This place is great-look at other guys' work of pixel art is great. It really is a source of inspiration. One day though, I'll beat you all .
I live in France, but I have English parents. That means I speak both French and English fluently.
Drawing/pixeling is my hobby. I draw anything from my teachers to my classmates to whatever. I guess I have decent drawing/pixeling skills...
Mais c'est vrai que je parle français en dehors de ma famille, avec mes potes, etc. C'est pratique, surtout pour critiquer les gens en face de soi dans un autre langue lol.

Hi guys, I am surthur , at least on the internet :o)

I am getting into pixelart  for the first time , since we ( I and John) are developing a "typical" asiaflavoured rpg with painted graphics (nearly) only.

We are not sure if it will be pure pixelart, maybe we will use also smooth brushes, especially for backgrounds. But I am here to learn and to get inspired :D   btw anyone who wants to join us (we need people for animation) and wants to work on a  project aiming for good quality( I want to use it for my careers portfolio)  is welcome to pm me :D

Oh btw I come from germany and was inspired by asian games and comics since about being 4 or 5 years old. had been a while *laughs* I am also interested in all sorts of mythology from all over the world,  science, egoshooters, creating music.... I guess we'll get along ^^/

Do you know what I realized today, I've been on this site for over a year now but i've never had a proper introduction! 6dof stands for six degrees of freedom (look it up if you don't know) because of my love for robotics, sciences (any really), electronics, videogames, and machines.
Why I haven't had an introduction yet is probably because despite the fact that I love technology, I don't use anything like e-mail, forums, msn, or even own a cell phone or mp3 player(no really, I love technology, i'm looking at a vacume tube manuel on top of my C++ textbook next to my Wii). It's not that I can't get these things, it's just that I have no use for them.
Anyway, I've learned alot about pixelart on this site and you can see the difference in my gallery (man that hextapus sucks). Everyone was very helpful to me and I hope I can eventually be good enough to help (or criticize) others to.  <(fifth emoticon I've ever used!)

Very good bunch of people here too
