Been a while since I posted anything. Don't really do much pixel art anymore, so I thought I'd share some non-pixel art stuff. Here's some recent drawings and sketches:

(Btw: really love your stuff Jeremy, was a pleasure browsing through that last page. Big fan of the skulls)

Just my own opinion here. But I REALLY like the first one better!

Edit: After reading my comment again I felt kinda sh*tty not telling you why, Jeremy!

I feel like my eye reads the other one much better. It could be the sheer fact that its contrast is much lower (not sure).

Thanks, man!

I'll post some new stuff soon. School's really taking its toll right now!

Jeremy: I do very much agree with Dumbo. Love the piece, but the high contrast makes the original work better.

Last one is mechanical pencil, but I bumped up the contrast a bit too high in Photoshop so it looks way darker than it should.

@Peeter: very cool, like the circles behind. Don't know whether the hole in the chest is really needed though.

@dumbo+Opacus: Yeah, definitely harder to get good contrast in paint. Part of the lack of contrast is shiny paint and bad photography. I'm in the middle of painting the same thing in colour.

And I designed some postage stamps!

Not the usual stuff around here, but nowadays I do a lot of graphic design.

"Walter" is one of the cheapest beers in Estonia and first made this calculator as a joke for a guy I know who drinks alot of "Walter". It exploded and got over 4000 likes (that's 0,3% of Estonian population!) on facebook within a few days so I decided to make a mobile phone version of it (with new design and more features)

and also something more related to traditional art:

I paint a lot instead of pixel these days. Haven't settled on a style so I do a lot of different stuff, here are two bodies of work I've made recently:

The first is a series involving grotesque carnivorous plants with Freudian themes.

[ 1 ]

[ 2 ]

[ 3 ]

And I've also been doing a lot of still lifes and plein air stuff to keep my eye sharp, mostly stuff in my backyard.

[ 1 ]

[ 2 ]

[ 3 ]

And I've got enough self portraits to keep the fires of Hell burning for a full week. Won't bother posting those, they're on my site though.

Self portrait from a mirror.
Took about an hour and a half. Pretty pleased with it.
Probably the best likeness I've managed as of yet, plus I'm getting faster. Nice to finally see some improvement.

Remember that it was me that told you years ago before school and when you were finding your way that you would eventually be a true fine artist. It has always been that obvious to me.

I haven't done pixel art in forever, but I've made a few paintings including these and others. All of these are also posted on my blog (link). *thinks about pixeling a little*

I've done some pastel drawings for a game prototype.  It's on the backburner for now but you can watch some of it in action here:

It's always cool to check out this thread... every year or so when I remember that the PJ forums has more than just a WIP section

Don't have anything super impressive off hand to show, but here's some doodles I did last night of my little gal character Twee (who's in my avatar, which I want to make a new one of soon!)

Coming up with a comic idea thingy in my head for her and some other characters, but I move pretty slow with this stuff :P

First thing I've drawn in a really long time. Did this for my son!

Enjoy!

Did you pass, jal?

I miss seeing Jeremy, Cure, etc. NPA works here. I was hoping that I was the only one not creating anymore.

A portrait I did of a family member in gouache, took a few hours I think. I was about to do the 'cure technique' of color reducing + pixelling over it but it seems very tedious.

Also the ear looks awful because it was for a school project and I never had time to fix it.

Illustrations for Brett Easton Ellis' American Psycho:

And a self portrait I did a while back in photoshop. Let's hope it's not too huge.

A painting that I just finished recently. It's a copy of Caravaggio's 2 Medusa paintings. Its acrylic on an 18 x 24 canvas.
