Haha, as someone who first saw your guide from tumblr I'll just chip in by saying that you don't have to worry about being the one to 'create' them

There are already many, many amazing digital illustrators on tumblr and other pop social media sites who attempt to create 'pixels' (the term they use universally for sprites and scenes alike, I guess?) but who don't refine their work beyond basic erasing and such. In terms of pixel art their stuff is shoddy and messy but their fans love it anyway... Well, the point is, a lot of young 'pixel artists' are already not adhering to pixel-level technique; you just gave them a way to move on to large pixel creations that don't look like oekaki, lol.
