Shouldn't making the background colour one of the palette colours help with judging the colours? It doesn't matter how saturated the blue is, what matters is how it looks when with other colours of that palette.

There is no reason to leave the template with a pure white BG cept that it makes it easier on the users later on to see colors accurately and make sure their monitor is looking right.
In judging it should not matter :/ --- @All, some are including charts and even examples showing their colors at work. This is nice but is not required if you choose to enter. |

You got the 3-4 interface colors in there too. If you want to make sure only palette colors are present; copy your darkest color to all other palette slots (copy to #16 and #255 and spread)

That was kind of the goal :p
I have really been liking super saturated colors lately, so I guess that was reflected in the palette. It probably won't win because of that, but whatever :p |

Figured I'd give it a try. This palette's mostly blue-and-purple focused, and I tried to make it so the other colours wouldn't clash with that.

Peyton, the brightest yellow and green are really close, sort of hard to tell the two apart. That could just be me though, you know way more about colors than I do

Also I made another one that is inspired by a movie... I just couldn't resist the inspiration lol
I really liked entering this contest. It was a really great experience for me! Want to see the complete list of all palettes. Can't wait! |

@PaperClip
Your cyan (00F37E) is more saturated than the other lighter colors which are all less saturated than their darker counterparts. It is more saturated than its darker variant. Also, pick fewer colors and do three for each, instead of two, but that is just preference. But it does allow for easier shading. |

'We don't need no saturation' is gonna be in my head all day :p I like the palette too.
Dawnbringer: I didn't have time until now to try and fix that. I spread the darkest color as suggested but it still shows those extra colors! You can see that the darkest color is spread here; so I wonder why i can't get it to work: ![]() There it is in Grafx2 and there's the palette index window from photoshop as well (to show the palette a little larger) 'Crayolo' there's the 16 color version without the white border and with the darkest color spread to the last slot: ![]() Edited by |||| - 25 April 2015 at 3:24pm |

Ah, I do see them in the analysis image; sadly I'm off to work now but will take another look into it when I return. Thanks for helping Dawnbringer.
In the mean time I did put this together manually for testing purposes: ![]() I think a couple of the colors will need adjustment seeing them combined.. the darker violet and the medium clay color particularly. |

Anyone with grafx2 want to give me a hand?
The newest version of grafx2 for mac doesn't run at all. I had a version that worked, but not after updating. Found outdated (3yrs) instruction on how to compile. Didn't work. Go figure. So, anyone either have a copy for mac that actually runs? Or would anyone be willing to take my latest iteration of my palette and do what everyone else has done with that analysis image? *EDIT* Ugh, numbering takes longer than the palette. Since you also have a huge brightness-gap to white...one option would be to make the two brightest yellows even brighter |

On the downloads page, it says 2.4 But after downloading, unarchiving, and not opening, according to os x, it is version 2.2.2 Is there an old downloads page? I wasn't able to find one. |

Hello!
This one is my post entry. Well, my palette isn't very good to draw anything, because it is for making anime illustrations, I have been working on it the last month, specially the skin colors. ![]() ![]() So, there are many samples I did for the x16 palette. Each one has a different skin shades. You can depict a highlight ambientace or a dungeon shades maybe. note: fan arts. ![]() ![]() This one explains the skin color working for AA and a dith preview. You can see the % porcentual using for each skin color, so the darkest colors are for the most part of the AA, there are special colors for AA use. ![]() Hope you like it. |

I didn't notice the way that blue looks against the new updated lighter yellow 'til I looked at it now in the script generated chart, so that'll probably be changed.
Thanks for the advice Dawnbringer; I think it's more versatile now. ![]() Edited by |||| - 26 April 2015 at 7:04pm |
