Now seriously. How can you guys reach 179 colors with this? You're pixel artists for crying out loud, limit the damn pallete and show some real skill. Try recycling eachother's colors instead of picking a whole new pallete. :|

There's an average of 9.42 colors per square. I think that's really sh*tty.

ryan-gfx, I thought I could reserve a square, but it's alright, I've done it now:

I added a helicopter on the roof, and I didn't add any new colours:

Damn, the bridge and the chopper took forever.
But it turned out ok.

I don't envy the guy that will have to continue the bridge and connect it with the prison square..

I'll try and edit some of this later today to lessen the pallette... we'll work this one out somehow dude. Unless you;d like to clean it up a bit? Anyone have a problem with that?

I just took it down to 128, but I don't think there is a max, well 256 is, you know what I mean.  =)

added white and shooted a red only present in my square...

don't you think that some details lost a lot with color-down?

I dunno gang... I tried to clean it up as much as possible and got it down to 123 colours. I think if we keep it "clean" there'll be less trouble in the future. I admit it's my fault because I was the one who started "dirtying" it up at the beginning. What do you guys think?

Looks ok like that, but I notice that in Kiwi's last post there is a problem with the long house with the red roof -- check out the right wall...
But in pixelblink's last it's fine.... But hey, wait, all the dirt and grass lost their textures. Crap. I'm not kidding.

Anyone wanna fix that?

I fixed that wall up on the house and some other minor things. I also removed the dirtyness as i said... the textures that aren't necessarily needed so as to keep the pallette down to a minimum

I'm not totally convinced we don't need those textures, man.
But ok, if you wanna keep the colour count, for dirt we could use the shades that are on the brown crate right by the green building and/or the palm.

Yeah, I never noticed that there was texture on the grass before, but the dirt could use some texture.

Pixelblink: You didn't need to get rid of the texture on the road or the dirt because of color count. You do know all that texture is contained in 3 or less colors. The onlt thing that was driving up the color count was all the details on the green building, and all the transparency on the bricks in the grey building to the right.

one thing i noticed about the broken green building - if you follow the bottom left bit (behind the crate where it joins the floor) and go right to the corner, the right hand side goes further down.  Isnt it obvious that there are 3 extra layers of window??  how is this possible it will be in the road!

Monstara has a point. You guys keep making the green building taller and taller and it's pysically impossible. it would've hit the ground.

It's an ok idea, but it's physically impossible.

The street going to the bridge is level with the rest of the roads. The bridge goes up a little. The small house next to the road is level with all the other buildings. The mud bank behind the house is level with the house. The mud back goes behind the green building. The road in front of the house is level with the rest of the roads. That road is going to the side or back of the green building. Everything else is level, so it's almost impossible for that to work. If a few people can fill in those blank squares to the right and bottum right and make it work, ok, but from what I can see, it's almost impossible.

For every second spent wondering if you can do something, you could spend 2 seconds doing it.

What I've done is made a slope going down, and I think it's wise that whoever does the squares the the top-right of mine to try and also make a slope up there, so that the green building is sort-of embedded into the ground if you get what I mean. That way, the area with the mud is left unaffected. BTW, I know the exact dimension of the green building are slightly off, but it's basically the best way I reckon.
Also, sorry emiko, but you roof-top oasis is now a floating magic carpet-oasis.

another genious idea.

I agree with Ensellitis, we shouldn't erase stuff. This thing is about working with other people's ideas, not just one person's opinion of what is right.  Which brings me to my main point - work with other people's ideas people! lol, what I mean is... did you notice that the sidewalks are different by different buildings? and some part of the road have the white line (don't know what it's called in english) on the right, while a few "feet/meters" away, around the corner there's no line.  and the thick line on the intersections where cars are supposed to stop is white in one square and yellow in the other.  And the 2 pieces of dirt road are different colors...

Also, the big challenge in my square is that the roof in front has a slope of 2/1(rise/ run), while in the back of the building it's 1/1 and if I complete it to fit the square next to mine it looks weird!  So people, study and keep in mind the ongoing details (meaning sidewalks, grass, road and their colors) when adding your piece.

Pixelblink, in your version the colors are all darker... I tried adding in the 2 new squares since I started mine, but the colors of the road and buildings of the image you posted don't match the colors on my image. I traced the change to Necromancer; I'm not playing the blame game, just trying to figure out whether I should change the colors to match yours (since it's the most recent one) or keep the colors  I started with.

BTW, this is my piece.  I'll add the 2 new tiles as soon as I hear from you about the colors...

All colors were recycled.

EDIT: oh shoot, I sort of  broke the rule a little without realizing it..fixing now

That's better. I edited the fence in someone else's square and then went on rambling about how we can't change others' stuff lol. Anyway, that fence was a lot of trouble, but I think I figured it out.  The river took a turn towards northeast right after the bridge and the fence is in a perfectly straight vertical line for a little and then it "turns" to enclose the little piece of land.  Would be nice to see the Jail lake and the river connected... wonder if the person who made the river thought of that, cause I sure didn't lol

haha leel congrats for the tile. However, the two sides of the bridge are not level with one another. Could be my fault, too. Not sure.

btw I also had problems with the colors, and once adjusted my piece to the latest template by tweaking the brightness/contrast/color levels.

the two sides of the bridge are not level with one another

Sides meaning the sidewalks? or the bridge on either side of the river.  The sidewalks (stairs) are actually level but because the road was too steep I had to cut part of the sidewalk on one side to make the rise smoother. However the other side of the stais still reaches the ground at the same angle as the stairs on the right.  You just can't see it because the road and the stairs are at different angle and on the right side the stairs cover up the road while on the left side the road covers up the stairs... I can't explain it very well, but it all makes sense in my head.

If you meant that the rise over the river on each side it uneven, then you're right.  But I thought that maybe it would pass as an illusion that the side I did is closer... therefore bigger and stuff.... I couldn't find a way to make the rise even on both sides.  I had to continure the road and the river and the bridge and they all met at a point which looks a bit wrong.... yeah the roof is screwed up too, as I said a few posts ago, but I guess it could work if the roof was angled in the bank...for some reason lol.  Well I did my best, hope it works well.

Leel: I just compared yours to the last 4 or so versions and there seems to be nothing wrong with it.

Also, Unknown Pixels, Rifts, and Demon all lose their claims (as shown in this update). You guys take WAY too long to fill the spots. You should have an idea in mind before you claim the area, then claim it, then build it right away. Otherwise you're just being a hog

I hope nobodys minds, but I took it upon myself to make the city look more, realistic.

I added white lines down all the sides of the roads and I changed the yellow thing on the road and made it white.

I hope no one minds, but I think it looks alot better.

(Just so everyone knows, I didn't add a square.)
