I'm new here, as you can see by my join date I'm from late 2009, but I was away for some time... two years, yeah. I just came back, to learn more about pixelart, and now, I'm here.

Hi, I am a game programmer from Hong Kong, I been coding in C for over 10 years and now looking for another hobby to pass the time.
Main motivations for pixeling are for testing new ideas quickly and just to get involved in something other than coding.

I have only just made my first post, but I have been registered here for over a year. I've been properly interested in pixels for about five years now. I would like to spotted and be commissioned, as pixels are the medium I'm most comfortable with and enjoy it a great deal. I have HND in graphic design and would love to bring the two elements together.

Hi, I'm new! I did some pixel art on my old Amiga 500+/600 ages ago, when I was a kid. I haven't done any pixel art for ages, so I'm a complete beginner. I've just learnt how to do it. I started off with a 2D piece, which I didn't like. I've made an isometric grid and plan to do some isometric works at a later date.

Hi all, I'm new here (surprise surprise), just recently I started paying more attention to pixel art and decided its something I really like and I want to give it a shot! I live in London, UK, currently going to college and studying Maths, Chemistry and Computer Science. In my free time I'm a guitarist, gamer, and occasionally fight crime dressed up in a single giant sock. Hope to get to know a bunch of you soon :D

Hey everyone, I've been lurking around PJ for years now actually, but I finally think I might try and be an active community member. A little bit about me... well, I'm a staff research associate, I work in west LA right now. Art has been my hobby ever since I was a kid, as well as being a chronic gamer (much more so then than now), which is probably why I got into pixel art. Earthbound and Mother 3 are probably my favorite games. That's about it, hope to get to know everyone a bit better here.

I'm new to pixeling, just started a couple weeks ago~ Doing dolls for right now, I might try do something non-doll-y for an avatar~ It's very interesting, since I've started pixeling I notice where shadows and light spots are on everything; EVERYTHING D8 Ah well, I suck at shading even with my 'normal' art, so 'tis probably helpful XD

I don't think I ever formally introduced myself. My real name is Morgan, born in 95, and I have two lovable dogs. That's where my username comes from, by the way. I currently live in Denver, CO, but I plan to move to Santa Barbara when I graduate high school and go to UCSB. I started pixel art about a year and a half ago. I actually started pixel art when I was completely addicted to a physics simulation game called Powder Game. Some of the great uploaders, as we call them, were great pixel artists, so they inspired me to be a great pixel artist. My first big piece was made on the game was a mockup of the Spyro video game cover.
It really isn't bad for a piece. The anatomy is all correct, at least :P It says hand drawn because there are a handful of people who do color reductions of pictures, copy them onto the game, and pass it off as pixel art. It's disgusting when people do that. Then I progressed, and eventually discovered real pixel art programs and this place, so here I am now. I still make uploads on Powder Game a little bit, but not nearly as much as I used to. So there you go. And you can all call me mdog by the way. The 95 was originally added because mdog was taken. Hi, I joined pixeljoint recently and thought I'd better introduce myself :D. I'm probably not your average pixel artist; my name is Rose, I'm 31 years old and live in the West Midlands, UK. I'm married with a 3 month old son.
I've dabbled with pixel art a few times and know that there are many things I need to learn before I can be even half as good as most. One of the things I love about pixeljoint is the great feedback that you get. In just a couple of days I have already improved! I use Photoshop CS3 to create and animate my work.

HELLO CLARICE!!! I'm Nicole-- 21-year-old wannabe animator wannabe currently studying in Virginia.. Been using flash since a friend introduced me to it in the 8th grade and It's been my weapon of choice. I've recently taken the plunge into composting/motion grafixs in AE... I think I found this site when I stumbled onto the CRAZY GOOD Piccaso Game Mockups by jalonso somehow. Art kinda depresses me right now so I decided to backtrack to past intrests-- like pixel art. I saw the amazing community here and decided to join in. Life story. | |

Therefore, i'm here to learn as much as I can about game art and enhance my skills as much as possible. We're working from home in Portland, Oregon.

Hiya,  I am not very good at introductions but after lurking so long and seeing so many good tips and examples I figured I should probably register :-) I am extremely old (32) and have been pixelling since I was about 6 on the ZX Spectrum. I have improved remarkably little over the years. I'm unemployed and have far too much time on my hands, which rekindled my love of low-resolution artworks. My favourite resolution is 16 x 16 with 16 colours and my favourite pixel artists are the demoscene artists Facet and RA :-)

I guess in a way i have been apparent with other things however i can't help thinking this forum and the black version of this place should have joint accounts because it can get very confusing especially when editing. Either way i get the feeling its a little too late for me to introduce myself however i mentioned everything about me on the another thread Which can be found here... you could say i wasn't too sure where to go at first :P Edited by Skullworth - 17 February 2012 at 3:22pm

Hi, I'm new to these parts. I came here hoping to expand upon my pixelart techniques, as well as gain encouragement and support for any of my projects (since like 95% of them end up straight in the gutter before they're even born, most likely due to low motivation and self-esteem). I hope I can at least get something to show you guys. It'd really help with the whole motivation/self-esteem bit and what not.

I'm an old demoscener who hasn't really pixeled in about 18 years (I think).
I started out on the Atari ST using Dpaint/ Degas Elite and now I started this multiplatform game project with a friend of mine. I'm going to be using photoshop and it will all be a nice challenge to make all the animations and stuff. I hope I'll be able to get and give crit during our journey :) I might just look up some of my old PI1's and post them here for posterity :)

Hey I'm Nathan, I'm 16 years old and have been doing pixel art for about...4 years. I've visited this place a few times in the past. Never signed up due to the fact of how amatur my stuff is compared to everyone else in this forum. But now I figure it's a good place to learn. Get critique from the best and all that. This is also one of the only forums I've signed up to (I knew of forums but never had the desire to join one) Unlike most pixel artists. I can't draw. At all. So I don't do the method of "Draw this. Scan it. Pixel over it" :I Right then, I hope I have the attention span to stick with this forum.

Welcome to PJ PurpleLemon. Drawing well is essential to creating any type of 2D artwork. Through learning to draw, you learn the foundations that all the 2D media have in common. You don't need to use your drawings directly in your pixel work, but knowing how to draw well will improve your ability to render forms generally. The best thing you can do for yourself as an artist it to master the fundamentals (line, value/shading, perspective, etc.), and the most expedient medium to do this is drawing (and by drawing often!). Take some time to familiarize yourself with the forums and the front end of the site, hope to see some work from you soon

My background is doing 3d characters for games so it was quite an experience to when I started making animated sprites for my new iOS game (which I will share with you in the discussions forum). Anyway, thank you all for sharing your work and hopefully I will someday be at the point where I can offer something in return.

Hello everybody, I just joined here and wanted to drop by and say hi! My name is Angelos, I am 18 y.o., I live in Greece and have tried my hand at pixel art a couple dozen times without too much of a success but at least I know some techniques so I can start off better now. I have been visiting the joint a lot of time now and decided that the only way to learn is by joining here and observing some of the best online pixel artists do their thing. So for now I am mostly into observing people's work and doing really small pieces so that I can get more familiar with all the pixel art stuff. The main reason I want to learn pixel art is because I am a university student in programming and guess what: I want to make some old-school neat-looking games that will eventually feature a lot of sprites and tiles etc. So the only way to do this is to learn it pixel by pixel the hard way. (Though I will also sooner or later need a good HTML5 engine to make everything work properly). So that's about it! Cye! :D

But then, I had a conversation with my friend about how I am overrated. He suggested me to come here and I just happen to have the basic of pixel artist skill. ^^ I am looking forward to learn more about pixel art.

hello. I am tru. I just joined. I have been casually making and hacking games as a hobby for over a decade. I'm here to learn, make friends and hopefully build partnerships for game development. you can see my stuff at http://trudatmangames.blogspot.com and get a feel for what I do. my focus, currently, is on converting one of my Zelda Classic games from version 1.90 (ten years old) to the newest build, 2.50(3), which I am just learning to use. with the newer build, I will be able to use far fewer repeating tiles in HowHigh2, hopefully allowing me (us?) to essentially paint realistic scenes, tile by tile, to replace scenes like this one: while I am not currently trying to outsource any specific task, I would like to work with somebody or somebodies that would feel comfortable using or learning to use Zelda Classic 2.50(3) and/or Zelda Classic 1.90. I also would very much like to learn to pixelize photographs and import them as editable tiles that fit the paletting structure of ZC 2.5, but I am not quite there, yet. if you are interested in partnering in any of my existing projects or advising me on specifics of what you think I should be doing, I look forward to reading your messages in my inbox. don't by shy. thanks for your time. trudatman [AT] gmail [DOT] com
