I always misspell "recommend." I give it two c's and one m. Every dang time.

What I hate most about macs is how everything is off-limits. In Windows, you can delete core system files as an admin if you really want to. In Mac OS, they're the almighty system file, immune to the petty desires of the foolish end-user. Files cannot be opened with an alternative program like notepad (Simpletext) or a hex editor from Finder if "the program that created it could not be found," a stupid error that impedes getting anything done with file types the computer doesn't know. And if the computer won't boot up, you're screwed pretty much. As far as I can tell there is no equivalent of DOS or Safe Mode in case something has gone horribly wrong. WHICH IT DOES. I have never in all the time I have owned my PC (about six or seven years) had a real, true crash. Programs have crashed, but Windows XP has never failed me, nor has Ctrl+Alt+Del. Mac OSes 9 and X will curl up and die for me about once a week. Practical immunity to viruses is another claim. But to be honest, it's like a car--if you drive well you're not going to ruin it, and Mac OS is like the car with a 6-star crash rating. You don't need that protection from viruses if you're not going to encounter them anyways. And so many things are hidden from the user totally. Under Windows, the registry stores key system settings and you can tell where preferences/options dialogs are affecting things. Mac OS does everything behind an inpenetrable curtain that might be simpler but gets in the way a lot. And don't get me started on the mice. I don't give a care if it was considered more user friendly in the '80s/'70s/etc. when nobody had heard of a mouse. Now it's just annoying and inefficient. Ctrl+click should not bring up a context menu, dangit. I have three fingers sitting on top of that mous. They don't all need to press one big button. And I've only seen a few mice with scroll balls (none with scroll wheels but they may exist), and those are too small to use comfortably. A decent-sized scroll wheel is much easier to use and nobody scrolls sideways when they're running weird resolutions like 1456 by 1321 anyhow.
