I got a moob job, for my 18th birthday. Didn't work out for the best, as the womenfolk became less interested in me, after the moob reduction. Oh well, just made me flex my muscles even harder, and flaunt my colorful feathers about the fields even more...(don't ask how the feathers stayed in place...)

Ok kiddies.
You said the former maze was too easy? Try this.
Now with a new algorithm. It about melted my CPU and took about a whole minute to generate. I heard the fan going nuts and the table got a bit warm. Time to start writing more efficient code.

Hard to classify in terms of difficulty since mazes are just timesinks. It definitely took more time!
I would like to see the correct path be longer and less linear--you know, wind through a lot more of the canvas. The best mazes bring you tantalizingly close to the end before sending you back to a distant corner. |

I'll have to think about how that can be done procedurally. This maze is made of "random walks". This means that it starts a corridor and carves until it reaches a dead end or traps itself. The problem with random walks is that they tend to trap themselves and end prematurely. The more squares in each walk, the more rare the possibility of ending prematurely is.
If I wanted a walk 500 squares long it would be astronomical that it would ever be fully completed. As the passage grows, it becomes longer it becomes more likely that it will entangle itself and end prematurely.
I'm not always good at expressing my deeper thoughts in common English.

I'll probably begin work on a random dungeon generator soon based on my maze generator. You simply insert some rooms and remove the dead ends from a maze and in theroy it should create a random dungeon.
