Alright...
Well, Just introducing myself with sum sprite/pixel art included :D and trying to get sum help with my current project...

I'm dah Metal Mistier, the Sinister Minister, conquering of all things brutal, and is currently attempting to conquer the realm of 2d gaming...
So, come here, cause figured it was the right place, to get some help and grab some skills on my pixeling experience...

currently working on a custom template for sprites in my game..
though, going through a lot of trial and error problems with the animation...
Am hoping for critiques and help in any way possible...

I've noticed that sprite was incapable, impossible, or just plain hard to animate, so I threw it out and then gave this another go around, but this time with something new...

Now, I'm attempting at something totally new, to me, which is 48x64 sprites.
Through Trial & Error, I came up with a plan to rip out an outline, then use that outline to animate, then I'll take the frames of that outline and pixel in my RPG character over the outline.
Well, with that, I've even failed.
So now, I'm seeking advice, and any kind of help at all...
Direct me on how I should animate this thing, like how exactly should I move the arms and what not... Or possibly, is anyone here that can animate this thing for me?... either way is fine and appreciated...

PLEASE I NEED HELP...  :'(
I've been trying for weeks to get a simple animation done, and I've yet to get any done at all because all of them have failed me because of my inexperience at animation...

(Also, plz don't try and write me off by sending me a link to a tutorial, I've seen them all and none of them help AT ALL)...

My Progression/Attempt:

As you can see, I'm desperately in need of some assistance...  :(
And, I know this is a Pixel Art thread/forum, so I was hoping professionals on this type of matter could lend a helping hand... thnx ahead of time...

Err, I dunno, from first glance what sticks out for me most is the arms... It just looks weird... like they're getting shorter and longer rather than going back and forth.

Also I think the feet look like they're sliding more than stepping.

There is also the fact from what I see is the shading of the head has had alot of time spent on it and the body not so much. In my opinion it looks like they're from seperate sprites.

Just thoughts.

the animations needs a lot of work, Niallywially gave some good pointers there....
for the art itself...... u've got a lot of anatomical problems, if reduced to the lineart ull see that the basic silhoutte doesnt really show volume, the legs, for instance, are just like  colums with a blob at the end... try to make the silhoutte as convincing as possible, that will also help a lot when ur starting to shade.... take a look at some muscle references too....
also i think that he is waaaay to muscular... the shoulders are like huge ass wide, and everything is a bit over the top

I've tried over and over again and this is the best so far I've made.. but, even to me, it feels lacking... not to mention I'm going for eight frames instead of four... even so, just this four frame animation I've attempted sucks... IDK, what you think? is it any better in your opinion?

Idk how to do this, in fact, it feels like I should just give up instead of beating this dead horse, but really don't want to give up and need some help...

and I thank you all for your input. and thank you so much Onek for your help in perfecting/bettering the sprite.
it's just that idk what I'm doing when animating this thing, almost like I'm blindly pixeling it not even knowing what I need to do...
Can one of you, or somebody direct/tell me on how to make the arms seem they're going back n fourth,
or perhaps animate a silhouette version?

Legs actually overlap slightly in a walking sequence. The straight back-and-forth swing of the legs is the main reason it's looking a little artificial.

Your feet look too flat, too pointed forwards. It doesn't look as if they really lift off the ground at all, he just looks like he's skiing really. I would also say there's too much black definition. He's got a high crotch apparently, his belly button seems mere inches from the split in his legs. And his knee-lines make him look like he has incredibly large thighs. His chest lines, the one under his muscles and the one mimicing his collarbone make him look really emaciated. Also the long lines that represent his thumbs make his hands look really turned forwards.

That being said. I did a few little improvements and made a little progression animation so you can see how I did what I did to your sprite. I also added another color to show how you can shape the sprite better than using the harsh black definitions.

The arms and legs are completely rigid, which they aren't in real life.
