Hi Pixeljointers

I am starting a web design company and I need a realistic simple crown for my logo.
As I am just starting I cant give you to many details as I don't really have any yet.
Other than it will be used on my business card and main website.

My only requirements are dimensions from 26 x 24 to 52 x 48. With gold colouring and maybe a few small jewels. I will be scaling the image to fit within the website layout so bear that in mind. Preferably the image style will have a 'sense' of realism and mild three dimensionality.

Payment via Paypal and I will offer $20 for the image and the rights to it.

You do  know that pixel art cannot be scaled right?  If you need an image that needs to be scaled to fit the site you probably want someone with vector art skills.

Partial intention was that the image would be made within the dimensions I specified. Saved as PNG or Jpeg, not animated. The intended use will emphasize the lo-fi quality of pixel art.

Surely scalability is a function of the save format?

You would never save pixelart as jpeg, it's a lossy-format that should only be used when png/gif produces large files, such as big photos.

And it's not that you can't physically scale "pixelart"...they are just not meant to be scaled and if done it will damage the quality and integrity of the image. If you have to scale make sure it's in pure fractions like 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4 size. Better is to order the same gfx in different sizes from the artist.

Hey

I understand that a 'pixel' is a standard measurement.

My objective is to get a logo that has the pixelart style.
If a piece of work is saved as a jpeg or png there is no reason why it cant be scaled. I am not sure if this is a compromise on pixel art conventions. Does that make it any clearer.
And in regards to vector art I know that is not what I want as it is the construction of style of pixel art that I want.

Ok a living sample of what we mean by "cant be resized" I am posting an image on the left is the original size of pixel art... on the right is a resized version of same using photoshop... Notice how image got blurred and photoshop smoothen the image? From the time it got that way its not pixel art anymore... got the idea now?????

Pixel art means clean pixels, blurred pixels like photoshop does with brushes is not pixel art.

PS: I am sure it'll look fine to you and all lol ... Firefox uses image smoothening in browser so pixels dont really show clean anyway... so yea

Can you not group multiply pixels in to a larger pixel and manipulate those to create an image that would look good at a larger scale?

That is where a grid would come in handy in a vector program.  You can still get a nice pixel look,  but then it could be scaled.  It would not be true pixel art though it would have the "look" you are seeking for your logo.
