Hey guys, I have been trying to design a base character for a semi-topdown game(about the Same view as Minish cap) and I have been struggling with this view quite a bit more than I feel I should xD. Just figured I would throw it over here and see if I could get some help on it. I am mostly struggling with making the legs look acceptable but I'm sure that alot more can improved. The colors are just place holders until I come up with a palette. anyways tell me what ya'll think :] Thanks

Two differences I'm noticing between your character and link in the minish cap are that you have more of the legs showing while link only has his feet showing and also link's head makes up a slightly larger portion of the sprite compared to the body. Because we see your character showing more of his full body in slightly more real proportions it looks like we're looking almost straight at him instead of down from above.

Yea I thought the perspective was off a bit also. I have never tried to sprite anything from this angle and I feel i'm struggling with it far more than I should xD. Been trying to fix it up a bit. I'll post an update soon. Thx

The view is referred to as 3/4's (three quarters) view.

The trick is compacting the character vertically, overlapping parts of the body, and showing the top of the head.

Gimme a minute or two and I'll make an edit.

EDIT: Not completely done, but a good example of what I'm talking about I hope:

EDITEDIT: Slight revision:

Been putting some hours into this and I think it looks pretty decent. Much different from my last post but still the same idea. I'm looking for absolutely anything I could do to improve how it looks color variations, tweaking the style, different armor set up, or just general C+C. Thanks guys and gals
