So...

I have added many avatars to this site for people to use f they like it... Instead what I got was:

REASON: Redundancies can really clog the gallery. Rather than submitting many similar pieces separately, submit one piece that showcases them all.

This is not to say you cannot resubmit the piece in the future after revising it. We encourage you to participate in our forums which include a Work in Progress (WIP) category. This is a great opportunity to gain knowledge and feedback for your pixel pieces before submitting them for approval on the main site.

If you feel this is a mistake please post a FRIENDLY message in the Resources/Support section of the forum and we'd be happy to discuss it with you. Responses to this issue within the gallery site will be ignored.

On every single one of them... So if I created these avatars for people to use, how are they going to be able to use it in a bundle?! Seriously?

Also, the Audi R8 and the Audi RSQ I created, these two:




Both are considered not good enough quality for the site... So does that mean I have to make them like everyone else, like this:



This reminds of a pixel art I help a friend of mine make once. It was the NFS:MW BMW M3 GT-R E46, this one:



Then my friend asked me, why won't I make my version of the car? Well, I decided I didn't want to make the MW version, but I did make the car though, here's mine:

I think both look nice... But mine seems to not be good enough for this site... Meaning I have to be like everyone else and create pixel art that looks the same.

Boring.

- Audi R8 = 40 colors.
- Audi RS! = 50 colors.

- Anything above 255 is not a pixel art, anything below is. Like I said, it is MY version of the car. Meaning I don't want it to look like every pixeled other car out there. The windows were make line by line... it isn't CGed, which I'm sure you think it is.

P.S.
I already know what you guys are looking for, and it seems the only hing I will upload at the moment... Since other simpler yet still detailed images in my opinion don't cut it.

This is 100% false.

Pixel art is about building images at a pixel level, by hand. Attention is payed to both the conservation of pixels and to the conservation of colors. In pixel art there is no need to use more pixels or more colors than needed. The more colors you use the harder it is to manage them. In fact, forcing yourself to use fewer colors promotes greater understanding of colors and their interactions. I have found pixel art to have an environment for the growth of this understanding more so than any other form of art.

As I said on some of your submissions, such as the cars, there is nearly an absolute 0 visual difference between the number of colors you used and if you were to cut that number in half. Wasted colors are, to be honest, and sign of lack of skill. It means you weren't able to get a result with a lower color count and so had to add colors, even though that result was actually possible.

Improve by understanding color, and practicing with fewer colors. Lately I haven't been using more than 8 colors and I think my pixel art is improving noticeably.



To be clear, there is no set limit to how many colors are allowed in pixel art. Pixel art is not about what tools or palettes you use, but about how you use them.

For me if a screenshot of a game has above 64 colors, it's not pixel art.

Wasn't Metal Slug a 16-bit game or was it 32? A new free MMO game came out called "Metal Assault" that really resembles that of Metal Slug. I play it every now and then, the games pretty good.
