If you've lost your reference, you can do whatever you want. If is not your case and you want to be guided using another sprite, I'll try to help you searching something like your WIP.

study the anatomy of the human arm, learn the bones and muscles that comprise it and therefor determine its shape and range of motion. nothing to tell you on the lines but to clean 'em, keep a consistent thickness.
