*EDIT* Scroll down to see my latest updates!

Good evening people,

I'm new to this forum, as well as to pixelart.

I have just completed my first try-out, which is a walking cycle of an angry man with a tie. I plan on using some character like this for a platform game I've been thinking about

Constructive critisism is absolutely welcome, I need all the help I can get! So if there is anything I can do better, or that YOU would do otherwise, please, let me know :)

*Here's to hoping the upload works!

Please don't mind my palette colors and some sort of grid showing on the left. I've added shadow, but because of this weird grid, this is hardly noticable. Therefor I've added a picture of one of the frames, so you can see the shading I did. The green on the head is ofcourse not supposed to be green, this is a darker color of the base color of the head, but my computer also screwed that up.

Thanks for reading and let me know,
BerzerkinApe

don't hijack threads, please. responses in the WIP forum should include critique. edits can be helpful, but just posting your own artwork isn't constructive.

Hi folks,

I've been busy updating my sprite, so here it is!

I've changed the overall look, made the difference between base- and shadow colors bigger and also changed the walking animation slightly. Besides that I've tried to make everything look a bit more symmetrical.

I'm glad to see that the grid is gone and the colors are now being displayed as they should.

If you have any constructive critisism, tips, or recommendations, please, don't hesitate to tell me!

Hi guys,

I haven't had any critisism so far, so I guess I'm doing alright.

Anyway, I'll keep updating this guy and critisism is always welcome :)

I've added some sort of blastersystem that's supposed to be build onto his arm and tried to make the wires move along with the movement of the face and body.

Let me know what you think :)

instead of swinging his arm (keeping it bent the entire time) it looks like he's bending his arm, then straightening it out by his side, like he's doing bicep curls. It also looks like one of his legs is always in front of or under him, but never behind, while the other is always behind or under him, but never in front of (the legs cross one way, but not the other). mixed resolutions ('big' and 'little' pixels) is tricky to pull of without it looking a bit strange.

Thanks for the feedback!

Any ideas on how to fix this?

And you're right, the mixed resolution is hard to pull of. I started with 32x32 but while trying I changed to 64x64, and then started adding other things which made it trickier to get it right, in stead of placing 1 pixel I know need to place 4 in a square to make 1 actual pixel.
