I am looking for feedback on my character animations an the sprites in general. Below is the sprite sheet I am using. There are a few in there that are horrible (row 2,col 1-2, row 4, col 1-2). Just ignore those.

I had animations made up for these, but the program I am using messed up the animation, so that will have to wait for now.

Give more shading, also compress it in gif, It'll be easy for others to critique the animation.

Ok I did do shading, what exactly do you mean by more? Is the contrast not enough? Do I need more colors?

Also, here are the two animations that I care about:

Please also keep in mind that these sprites will be viewed at about the resolution of the sprite sheet from my original post. Thanks in advance!

you dont need to post the images so large because you can zoom into images on this forum by clicking on them.  The running animation looks pretty good though.  I think the guys head sits a little far back try moving it forward a few pixels to see if its better.  AS for shading you dont really need more colors.  You only really need 2 colors to shade: a light one and a dark one.  A good rule of thumb for contrast is that if you squint youre eyes a little and cant easily decern the light part from the shadow part you need more contrast.  In your case you cant decern light from dark even in the zoomed sprite.  The result is that even though you took time to put in shading you might as well not have because we cant see it.

Yeah I don't know why they blew up like that, but I am at work, so I kinda just shoved them in Gimp, fixed the coloring issue, and posted them. :P

Thank you for the advice! I will try and fix that shading, and post again soon.
