Just wanted to get some constructive criticism before I work on the legs.

Oh and the line at the bottom is the longest length that her legs will reach. So I guess that'd be the "ground"

Pretty sure that armor isn't going to protect against explosions, fire, gunfire, and other things mechas have to deal with ;p
But in all seriousness the left side of her (it is a her right?) stomach- our right- is looking rather strange. It should not be that dramatic of a curve.
Also, the shoulder pad on her left side has a slightly incorrect angle.
And her left arm is also at a weird position. Try holding your arm like that with the palm facing down. Feels awkward right?
Also when a person's elbow meets the forearm the width of the arm fluctuates. Especially on a skinny person such as this, you would see the elbow bone in between the 2 pieces of armor.
Otherwise this is looking like some nice lineart. Good luck on finishing this.

Maybe the pose would make a bit more sense with an older version I've kept for pose reference. With the colouring and shading done, it should be easier to see that again.

I'm aware of that left shoulder where the angle of the top isn't steep enough. I've redrawn it a couple times already and I'm getting closer to making it look just right.

Haha, yeah I know that arm pose is a little awkward; I actually did the pose myself. It does feel uncomfortable but considering that it's a robot and it looks endearing, I thought why not. You're right about the arm width though, my arms are very skinny as well so when they're held straight, the elbow will be noticeably wider. I did consider it but the design of the arm allows me not to worry about it because the robotic forearm includes the elbow so the "flesh" part of the arm is actually from above the elbow.

So far I'm just having trouble designing the area between the chest down to the waist (it was originally supposed to be bare but I ended up deciding not to once I got this far). The leg designs are done so I guess I'll draw those first and then see how things go.

The shape of the body you are using looks more like that of a young male than a girl IMO. Specially since the drawing has a heavy japanese cartoon influence.

Can you specifically tell me which part? It's kind of hard to correct it without that kind of input..

And also, you kind of made it sound like you were generalizing 'japanese cartoon [influenced]' body shapes of females into one shape. I'm going for a more or less a lesser endowed appearance with a slim/small body with a small chest.

Im generalizing common male and female body types. Girls have wider hips than guys, and narrower shoulders.
In your drawing, the hips look small and the shoulders wide (the shoulders are what bothers me the most, since they look even wider than the hips)

Also, if she a slim woman, the hips would take the form of the hip bones, which seems to be missing in her right side.

Slim body with small chest

After getting caught up in school and whatnot, I decided to do a little more work on this again.

I really don't like how the leg is looking so that's why I'm posting here again. I don't think I have torsional angle right with the way it leg is.

More or less finished the outline, I still need to refine the lines before I start colouring.

I started working on it again so I thought I'd do an update. Not sure how I'll tackle the visor. It's supposed to be a tinted glass kind of thing but then it conflicts with the eyes =.=

The shading is kinda confusing. Also I can't tell if her eyes are being covered by her hair, or if they are yellow. And I really think using yellow for the hue shifting on her skin is a bad idea.

And bigger breasts! :D

Forgot to save before closing (or at least I thought I saved) and lost hours of work, at this point it's mostly AA but that can take a long time to do since I'm trying to make it look as good as I can. Changed the hair closer to orange (not sure how I kept gravitating to green..), I'm using a better shade for the skin rather than that ugly green.

And about the breasts, I'm going to redraw them because I'm not satisfied with the shape. I'm probably going go for a flat-chested look.

Maybe this should answer the huge white space around the eyes.

Here's an update. This has been very on and off and it's been hard to keep focused on it.

I'm going to be redrawing it's left hand and tilt it downward a little.

Eventually.

What lovely colors, I did not even notice there was a reddish color on her suit :D

I'll start by saying this: the colours I picked are awful.

The red I had to somehow use and by pure chance I realized that when paired with contrasting dark colours, it created an illusion where it shifted the focus where it made some lines look finer or thinner than they actually were.

My next piece, I'll definitely find some way to improve my colours.

Redid all the colours.

It's left arm just about done.

It is nice to reuse colors if you can, but for this style I would choose to take new skin colors for the skin shading. Perhaps something more red-ish, but not the blonde hair color.
I am not a big fan of the shoes, but that is something you will have to see for yourself
Hair looks nice!

Hm it's more like a mech with a lady motif xD

As you can see from where the hips and shoulders are connected to the arms, it's a complete mechanical transition.

I've also got other designs in mind but I think there won't be moe versions of them anytime soon.

Can't wait to finish this one so I can start on the next.

Alright, here's another update!

-Left breast and left forearm done.
-Did some shading on parts that were already AA'd

Next up is probably redrawing the left hand.

Also if I'm adding another 3-4 shades for skin colour to use instead of the darker hair ones, I'd probably do  them later since I can just use a colour replacer.

I love the mech parts but the flesh seems unrealistic.

I can't quite put my finger on what it is.

Maybe a little anorexic with no muscle, but then again, that is traditional anime style.

Love the piece though.

- Looks pretty good, too much dithering though... not needed... -

small edit ( not much dithering erased , just unrealistic lighting...

Yeah the dithering could be reduced somewhat.

The flesh does need a rework although in context it's not real so it's really more like plastic fitted over metal at the arms and legs. I'll look into adding more shades for flesh as I said earlier.

@Crafty Thanks for the pointers, I'm not very good with shading and even more so with reflective surfaces so that edit is helpful. The metal isn't polished and it's more of a duller sheen so that the reflections won't be as severe however.

Oh and I think I'll leave the eyes as they are. They're behind a dull visor so the light reflected off them isn't very strong.

i think before u go full on shading and stuff u should firstly try to improve on ur anatomy...
the pose looks very stiff and unnatural as is, also it seems kinda unbalanced
i made a quick edit shuffling around some limbs and came up with this... for the sake of it i also added some extra shading and made the colors somewhat more vibrant..

Thanks for the input Onek but at this point it's too late to completely change the angle of the drawing. I'm already tired of looking at it sometimes and I just want to move on to the next thing.

Anyways. After a couple days break from this, I redrew the hand and posed it in a more relaxed manner.

After a break from this and working on and off, it's pretty much done. Just a couple minor things I think I can improve and add and then I'll throw it in the gallery.

Can't wait to start on the next thing :D

Hi, I'm not fond of the last colour you added, it is too much red, or pink... The character having blond hair, I think even the shadows should be paler.

I have heard somewhere that it is a mistake to put too much red to the skin, and that the skin colour has much more blue than what we usually think.

Don't know if that helps. ;)

edit: the fact that it's armor is blue also makes me think that if it was to reflect some kind of light on the skin, it wouldn't be a that redish one.

I see your point, thanks, it really does look better now that I've dulled the darker skin tones with blue.

I like the new skin color, it's very nice. However I feel the whole image has way too much dithering for my taste. I would turn the dithering into just flat colors.
