I have an image I've been working on, after importing it into GraphicsGale(free edition) and reworking it to the limited palette I have selected(16 colors). I check for amount of colors I have used, and it says 117. I worked my way through the pixels and was able to reduce this value to 76. I'm looking for 17 as I have a white background currently. The color discrepancies have ended up being so slight that no more pixels stand out as off color. Is there a tool available to tighten the RBG values of very similar pixels? I suppose I could continue pixel by pixel correcting each, but needless to say I don't want to do this.
Possibly a way to highlight colors that don't exist in my palette? Thanks |

Not a GG-user, so I don't know if it has any operators like that, but there's several scripts in my GrafX2 Toolbox (all free) that does exactly that; most suited is probably the "Optimize Colors" script that locates clusters of similar colors in colorspace and fuses them. Setting a very low de-cluster radius of 0.1-0.5 or so will just process colors too similar for the eye to notice the difference. There's also a script for comparing palette & image colors.
Note: I hope to soon release the new V1.4 of the ToolBox with many additions and updates. So in case anyone intend to install it (and aren't in a hurry) you may wanna wait for that one. Edited by DawnBringer - 31 December 2012 at 3:37am |

Thank you sooo much, I'm sure you know better than I do the time and frustration this will save. This is actually my first project using my own palette. You may have noticed 3 of my 4 submissions have utilized your palette, which I find challenging and fruitful. I admire your work greatly and am even more appreciative of the help.
Thanks! (edit)Having taken your advice, I now understand why you would use GrafX2 instead. Being very new to PixelArt, your tools are a huge boost to my productivity. Edited by Witpickles - 31 December 2012 at 3:46pm |
