Okay, a question for all you die-hard pixel artists. I need some recommendations for Animation Programs.

[Free Programs] are there any decent ones on the web to download? Or should I stay far far away from anything that would be pirated...'n such. Allthough there's noth'n wrong with  pirates. The high sea ones, I mean ;)

[$30-$50max] any decent titles of programs that you swear by for relativley cheap? Since this is pixel art, I just need something that will basically let me alter frames with little effort, and a transparency option would be awsome, too.

[$70 + up] Okay, so now it's getting a 'lil more serious [and complicated]. I don't think I'm looking for anything in this category, unless I dropped the pixel art and started animating my own cartoons. :P

Just post up some names of programs, if it's free or not...etc. And just add some points about why you like it, and what makes it better than other programs out there. I'm clueless myself, and I haven't even begun researching animation programs...or even where to find them! >.< So hopefully with a couple recommendations, I'll have some questions to ask those spiffy computer store guys that know all. Pssh'a.

Recommend away!

Out of all the one's I've used on PC, my favorite is by far Pro Motion due to its extreme similarities to the classic Deluxe Paint which was what many commercial companies have used or are still using nearly 20 years on from its first version.

Pro Motion is pretty much a Windows version of DP and is used by a lot of people in the games industry, a couple of which I know frequent the pixel forums.

Prices of the versions range from $29.95 to $92.

The other one thats widely used is Graphics Gale.  I find some aspects of it very annoying personally but its a favorite amongst many members here.

Think the price converts to about $17 ... I'm not sure.

Both programs feature all the useful animation features and pixel tools that you should need.  Both also have trial versions you can use while ya decide if you want to pay for full versions or not.

Wolverine, thanx for posting the link for the Pro Motion trial, I downloaded it, and I appreciate the recommendation.

I have the free version of GG, so I suppose all it will take now is a comparrison for personal preference between it and Pro Motion. ($17-$30, I can defiently shell that out, lol!) But, for now I'm just starting out, so I don't have to get too elaborate with all the 'lil spiffy things these programs can do.

Thanx a bunch. Happy pixel-ing! ^0^
