I created this... creature today and i just gave him a idle pose.
I've never really done much pixel art before and i really want to improve him or how i do it in general. Can a beginner get any tips?

Not too bad. Could probably use a bit more contrast and stronger shading, to get some more defined shapes. Right now you seem to be working with a general and soft light in the left, but you could bring out much more detail.
You also don't need to use black outlines everywhere. I personally like to keep the feet 'open' so when you put your character on a background it blends in a bit better. I made an edit to get more contrast and stronger forms, particularly around the pelvis, and I tried to get some detail in the head/neck. I probably went a teeny bit too far in reworking since I changed design elementsm vbut I hope it's of use for you. |
