Well I am developing a game and I'm trying to develop a style to build around. since I am not an artist I haven't the best eye for these things

I made a few body types trying to refine


I eventually settled with this one


And tried my hand at a mock up

I was not satisfied and thats why I came here

I also am not sure how I should idle for these character customizable features this was my best try


just help me how you can... I'd love feedback and criticism. visuals tend to help me but words can be powerful

What aren't you satisfied with regarding the mock up? We could provide better input if we knew what exactly you wanted.

I would make their heads a little less round on the sides, maybe that's part of your style by I think the sharper hairline on the mockup is good.

Personally I think your WIP body types with wider stances read better, for instance last on the top row and second from last on the bottom. More space between limbs -> more distinct, more room for animation and embellishment. You could try thinning out the arms/legs in less important areas to again give more room for animation, but I'm just spitballing there.

Also try to have a more consistent light source - you're pillow shading a bit on the mockup.

I am trying to make a look that conveys rpg, and is pretty well polished ....I think your referring to the animation on the head roundness, and yeah that was a older head type...If I had to compare the style to something I would say I want a Zenonia 4/5 style...the face is pretty bad for the rpg anime style... I don't quite know how to explain better

it is actually in front of it by a pixel lol... since weapons have to conform to the base that's what I came up with
