Hi everyone :)

Long time I wasn't around... For reminder I'm not new to the community but I'm not really active since age...

Well... I guess it could be nice to show you the last piece of my old dreamy series I'm still working on.

First, the step by step of the current pixel art. What's below follow how I 'm used to work.

I really tried to built the picture upon the golden number. It's not the first time I do the sort of thing, but right there I really tried hard.

Cleaning line-art...

Put some very basic colors...

then set basic light and shadow...

Fix tone...

Give some details, cleaning a little bit more and extanding color range...

Fixing the towers

Draw the sky. This step was really fast to perform. I'm actually used to
this kind of render and subject so I guess I'll do it not so bad.

Now the desert, I actually first try some dithering with three colors but it doesn't looks good so I expended it to five...

AA... AA everywhere!

Well... This is all I got for now. I confess I don't really know how I'll deal with the city... We'll see these days :)

At this step the picture uses 18 colors. I hope to don't go over 24.

You might also be interested to the previous version of this pictures.

This one was from 2009! I was new to pixel art! This the very first version of the picture since I decided to remaster the serie.

What's follow is an abandonned try from 2012 or 2013, can't remember.
I really don't like the colors and the composition. I'm still interested on what do you think about it :)

That's all folks!

Please, let me know what do you think about all that stuff :)

See you soon for the next upcoming steps :)

PS: Sorry if my english sucks; not my native langage but I do my best.

Yes, it's good. It gives off an old feel. :D
What got me worried is the desert. At first sight I trough it was some sort of dark water, The original was more readable in that part.
I was wondering at some point If the piece needed walls near downtown, like in the original...

Seems perfect now. You should control where the city and the desert meets.
Some houses seem in a dune.

Nice :)
I'll look for the outer wall later. I'm most worried about the inner wall which I'm not satisfied yet. There's something wrong but hard to say what.

you spotted me :p

Dunes are suposed to be enlighted by the moon solely. Indeed there is light source problem. I'll look if I can fix it.

Here the third time I redo  the desert. The ways it goes looks must convincing, at least for light and shadow. Let me know.
I'm still working on it.

As you may noticed, I used the blue set from clouds for bricks in towers.

Hm... It's really hard to get good looking bricks...
Also, I plan to make the outer wall straight. I believe it will more in harmony with the composition.

cure is right. There is no moutain or hill such like this, or in this case I should blend them with the desert.

The textures are coming out really well! I thought you were just taking artistic liberty with the sky.

the hair looks like it is gelled together in one big spike, Try for a more wavy look. Also maybe have her left leg a little split apart from her right to get a more relaxed pose.

I think her hips should be enlarged slightly

I agree with Limes about the hair. I miss the swoosh bump present in the earlier sketches. And also the hips if it's a woman.

Also when we look at the picture should our focus settle on the town area?
